But... that's why I've always liked Scots-folk, in general. Why do you think the Scots-Irish had to live in the Appalachians? They were a buffer zone against the Indians because the brits were so mild-mannered, in comparison, and were afraid of having to live on native borders, so they had little German communities and Scotch communities scattered in between, so the Brits didn't have to be the ones to fight... Brits who lived in the Eastern part of the Appalachian states didn't want anything to do with it, and they were too good and didn't want to live with the Scotsfolk and in clannish ways. So, given that, I've always liked the history behind it. Otherwise, there would be no "South", as a region, or even Southern stereotypes. It all stems from that and the clansfolk.
