it's not surprising they use most of the donations for the organization. Everyone should know Invisible Children is an activist organization. Their job is to bring awareness. In fact, I'm surprised any money goes directly to Africa.

I agree with using most of the donations of activism. Invisible Children is very direct that they're about swaying powers in Washington through grass roots campaigning.

Not when they advertise on their website that 100% of the funds will go to Africa. Let alone the fact that they make 90k a year lol

ok enough is enough. so far i've read four pages of this thread and i still have no idea who this guy is and even less why so many seem to want him dead. i'm guessing from implications and the mention of uganda that he holds some kind of political power there.

but that is as much as i've been able to get out of it. and no, i'm not going to waste my very limited amount of monthly internet watching a bunch of things i'm not interested in on youtube.

i'm reluctant to support america starting any more wars. all they ever do is destroy things. and as a country we've damd near destroyed ourselves doing so.

the only place in the middle east that needed invading was iran, and not because of khomani's conspiring with ragun against carter, but because of how they treat baha'is, gays, and ghod only knows how many other sectors of their own people.

as for africa, or any place else, if we were actually there to stop anyone for killing each other that would be fine, but i'm not convinced we're even capable of doing things like that, only of destroying infrastructure and (mis)appropriating resources.

btw there are over 80 countries worldwide where homosexuality is criminalized, even with death penalty.

there are many countries worldwide where homosexuals are criminalized and where minorities are victims of violence.

    So why attack Iran?

See all the US military bases which are there ONLY to protect Irans homosexuals and minorities?

Why are there not as many US military bases around other countries which mistreat minorities or homosexuals?

combining these threads has made it confusing as fuck in here, but i just wanted to re-iterate this from my post on page 9, in case anyone missed it when they all got combined:

understand that by supporting this campaign, you are advocating for western military intervention in most likely more than one poor country, not merely spreading information about atrocities.

I see it as a distraction. Western powers have long tipped off their true intentions with the ruthless tyrants they've selected for overthrow. It is the purposeful yanking of heart strings by ensuring that children crying bitterly are part of the piece- and the point that the narrator made in showing how he needs to make his little boy understand the crisis that invokes the emotional coercion of advocating intervention. God forbid anyone look like a heartless scoundrel to even consider that being a global rescue mission might not be the wisest thing to do. Propagandizing young folks into assuming that the US is some bastion of freedom to impress the notion that we have no need to be vigilant of our own leaders... that we need only to be concerned about some rather extreme examples half way around the world seems to be a tried and true facet of controlling people who are trying to pay attention.

Perhaps NATO or even just the US absolutely intends to intervene but in order to not draw the ire of military intervention weary folks here it is necessary to first cultivate outrage and a demand that something be done so they can claim that they are doing what the people want them to.

Perhaps a hint as to the agenda...?

We can't exactly pretend we know everything there is to know about African culture and warfare because 3 white guys filmed a documentary in Africa.

I'm just confused because some of you seem to be calling for direct military intervention, yet no one is stating clearly what the solution is or who should intervene.

I understand. Sadly I agree. I dont know what the solution is either. This whole thing just makes me sad and I figure once the world knows, maybe someone will figure something out. I hope so.

Alot of people are starting to say that this is all just a big coverup so that the govt can go into uganda and steal their oil. Personally I think that's on the paranoid side, but then again if you would have told me september 11 was an inside job as an excuse to declare a phony war and invade the middle east for their oil in 2001 I would have thought you were insane. I just hope these people are wrong.

I hope they are wrong too and I wish there was a simple solution to this.

I know that if the US is ever willing to commit more than a couple hundred troops to this then they have ulterior motives. I hate to be that cynical about my country but the government has never given me a reason not to be.

Half the reason the DRC is in such dire straights today is because the United States along with Belgium overthrew a democratically elected official in order to install a dictator in order to gain access to the diamond trade, amongst the Congo's other natural resources. And thats not a conspiracy. Those files have been declassified.

Thats mainly why I'm so leery of outside intervention in African affairs.

Why in the film did the guy who made it say we are "only doing this for 2012"

Later the director of the film told his little son that Kony is "invisible", very hard to find, or even know his where abouts..and now he is "changing his tatics".

I thought the film was great in the aspect that it talked about us having neighbors living across the ocean and not just on the dirt road we live on. People on a global scale are helping one another out and yes the world is heading a different and new direction for the first time in human history.

I hate though how we were always asked to give some money. I hate that so much. We are showed a sad story with tears and we feel for the people. Then we see horrible pictures, children with ARs, rape, sex slaves, then outta no where we are asked to donate some money. Is word of mouth not enough? Why do i have no buy a t-shirt and get a bunch of stickers in a little christmas looking box to be a part of this....

    I don't know...though i do hope they find Kony.

    Watch the film.

It talks about how the director wanted just that to happen. To turn the propaganda in the other direction so that they can use it to get Kony..Awareness...Duh.
