Anyone played this game? Just came out recently. It's FUCKING AMAZING. If you are at all a fan of the Alien universe then you have to play through this. It's masterfully done. Scary as HELL. I thought this review was very good (and actually very well written from just a writing perspective.) http://www.wired.com/2014/10/alien-isolation-review/ I would also add that it's nice to play a female a strong, smart, female. It's really nice. It's a first person survival horror game. Not quite an FPS, even though you have some guns. The xenomorph is not killable. You can only evade, trick, distract, hold your breath, pray for the best. There are other threats aboard the station however . You spend a lot of time hacking computer systems and using your engineering skills (you play Amanda Ripley, engineer, and Ellen Ripley's daughter.) The opening menu screen alone is a work of art, I stare at it for minutes on end. random screen from the game: the amount of detail is really sublime . . . you can decide whether your eyes focus on your motion tracker (if you choose to have it out, which is dangerous because it's beeping noises will alert the xenomorph) or on the background.
after watching the trailer quite a few months back and being a big 'Alien' fan i was very interested in getting this, but, after seeing what the pre-order bonus was: a whole level with the original cast. i'm not going to pre-order a game which i don't know if its going to be good or not and because of this i'm denied a whole new level: not just a weapon skin or double xp for a day or two but a level with all of the iconic cast back together doing the voice acting. that really grated with me. but then looking at a lot of reviews it was quite a mixed bag of good and bad. saying that though they seemed to of captured the atmosphere of the film hands down, i just wish the game had been universally praised for being great
I took notice of some reviews and it seems like a great game in its genre. I'm not even that big of a fan of the movies or this subgenre of gaming (horror/survival) but it looks like this game does an excellent job of recreating the atmosphere and setting. I do love settings in space or on spaceships. Probably will not play this game soon but it definitely appeals to me.
