When I hear her speak I hear the same "tell it like it is" vibe that makes Trump so popular. Her supporters myself included enjoy her saying what we feel has not been said before. She is the left's version of outsider. And this is what upsets those who do not support them the most in both cases. They come off as ignorant and rude.

She shows the so called "socialist" policies are not going anywhere. And with the economic failures of Trump long term especially so. This is not the first time someone suggested 70% tax in this country and it will not be the last.

Without Trump breaking the ice on this style of insults and arguing she is not where she is. Or if she is it's by a more polite style of Democratic Socialism like Bernie Sanders. Like can you find any tweet from him in the vein of Trump or Cortez? He is more old school to me.

She strikes me as the type of person who’d cry sexism if a man held the door open for her.

    Huh?

Just like the dance video itself it's so unclear what the problem is. So you go to feminist hate.

"she is the women who makes problems".

Is this a "feeling" over fact? Where is the "logic" or evidence this happens?

I guess it's really a few things for right wing people. A women with a Spanish name is talking high tax. And she does with actual economic data not just some tweet like "socialism is bad change my mind" which is the extend of right wing debate, She is hard to challenge once people decide a tweet is not enough. It was in the 60's not now.

The white man is afraid. I don't know enjoy Ameirca cause she is changing.

I see the need for a high tax like that though. Even though it's like "whoa, that's quite a hike". I want to see more stuff getting done!

If you have politicians do a shit job for 50 years and have the people who control the banks making the real decisions, then you get trum....I mean then you get alexandira.

    I agree.

People need to understand what services they get for the tax. And also key point how many of us make 10 million a year and how many of us will? I sure don't. This does not affect us. The GOP has done an excellent job of making the average high school gradate think they are just one good idea away from being Bill Gates so they protect and worship a small percent of people in a king/servant relationship.

It is the "dream" in America. It's a dream for a reason.

What does 10 million buy? Anything in the world you need and if it does not you don't need it. At that point you need to be taxed.

What Needs to get done that 30% of the richest country in the world can't handle? Or better phrased what do you think would get done without half of that money going into politicians pockets.

Well put. I think that more transparency is necessary. Politicians are getting paid big boo coo bucks. We should see what they're getting paid, and perhaps even how they spend it. We live in a country with a representative government. I think people often forget that. If the representation in the Senate/House isn't representing the voters then what are we really doing? Kidding ourselves I guess.

Most people who are against her proposed 70% tax rate dont understand how a marginal tax rate actually works, and what its purpose is - to encourage investment back into the economy rather than wealth hoarding

Anyways I really like Ocasio-Cortez. And she's much smarter and well qualified than people really give her credit for, which isnt a bad thing. Being underestimated gives one the advantage of surprise

Well if there was more transparency laws I would accept a big hike. But I dont see that happening any time soon.

  13. Not quite the evisceration I was expecting. "You know...and just...you know..." No, I don't know. And neither do you, Whoopi.

Yeah not really what I expected from the clip either.

Political discussion of any sort on the view is rarely intelligent. There is a reason those women are on at noon when people work.

What I get from the clip's intent is a famous rich person says I like right wing they are qualified to speak for the middle class even though they have no experience with not having plenty of cash

When it's pro left wing the person is unqualified due to income.

If we apply the same logic applied to Cortez has Whoppi missed any meals? Is she driving a 2019 car already? Does Joe Six Pack have a 2019 yet?

Remember--a 70 % tax rate is NOT on all the money those people make. The 70% rate kicks in AFTER so many millions. Just like the 90 % rate that was in effect years ago.

And if they're good looking and liberal? Then they're just written off as the type of woman who would cry sexism when someone opens the door for them

They do sell Ferrari and BMW in European countries with these tax rates. So there must be some clients who can afford to buy it there even with 70% tax. Same thing with many other luxury goods Americans like.

Think about a Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates. Men like this skew an economy in an unfair way. If you respect capatilsim you need to regulate this. This can be done while still having a clear class system. They literally makes millions of dollars an hour in industries that are impossible to compete in. They own them. What is 70% of that? Still more money than you can possibly need or spend. We need to stop worshiping money and the endless chasing of wealth.

I don't care how hard you think you can work you are not going to compete with Amazon when it comes to home shopping or Microsoft when it comes to PC.
