Oh….I stand corrected! Thank you, because I’ve not seen ANY news coverage on this! Plus, I was down with a severe chest cold/flu for a few days, last night being the worst.
A shit-for-brains Fascist boot-licking primitive has disparaged my post. Please keep me in your prayers as I attempt to heal through this difficult time.
What news do you listen to and who do you associate with??????? Are you a believer about Hillary Clinton running a child trafficking ring near a pizza shop and vaccines are bad??????
Hmmm. I’m curious if any of us are able to even get a glimpse outside of our conditioned perspective/filter. Let’s try this: let’s say the 2024 election went the opposite way. Evil trumpler was defeated. Being the contrary baby that he is, rather than retiring to a new gaudy luxury beachside compound in (what was formerly) gaza, he decides to stick around to troll the new Harris admin and generally foment unrest. Maybe some of the ways this unrest manifests itself in the fight against the administration’s clear and popular mandate to open thousands of new abortion clinics and hundreds of child “transition healthcare” surgery centers. These are met with widespread and well organized aggressive resistance. Well-funded too but don’t you dare ask by whom. Police forces and reserve troops are deployed to protect the workers doing their noble work to build, staff, and maintain these centers. The “resistance” adopts the tactic of actively obstructing and very aggressively provoking/challenging all of these workers and government agents from doing their jobs to support this clearly popular mandate of the Harris government. At some point, one of these militant maga-types gets very intentionally aggressive with a group of federal law enforcement. He also is exercising his clearly constitutional right to keep and bear arms by carrying a concealed “military style” handgun and several fully loaded magazines of (probably “cop-killer) ammunition. During the altercation, after he is seemingly disarmed by one of the agents, something causes one of the agents to panic, and respond by mag-dumping this maga-agitator in the back, thus killing him instantly. Having the benefit of ubiquitous cameras, hindsight, and not being one of the people who were actually in the situation at the time, we can easily armchair-quarterback this scene and say that the agents fucked up “bigly” and murdered this poor patriot. Or would we? Were the political tables turned, as in the picture I’ve painted above, would we actually say that the agents were clearly in the wrong and probably shouldn’t have been there in the first place? Or would we say that they were there to enforce the laws and policies of our democratically elected administration? Would we say that they may have responded incorrectly in a moment of panic but that the “militant maga-fascist” came with “military-style weapons” with the intent to, and then did, engage aggressively and even violently with federal law enforcement? Would we not then say the outcome of his irresponsible actions was easily foreseeable and that the maga-tard got his proper reward for his stupid beliefs and actions? Would we?
So...a hypothetical. What if. Trump loses. So far okay. Now, an administration opening thousands of new abortion clinics and hundreds of child “transition healthcare” surgery centers? The Hyde amendment prohibits federal funding of abortion clinics except in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother’s life is at risk. So that seems far fetched. Transition surgeries are paid for by many healthcare plans in the U.S. and are available by many other countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, France, Malta, Iceland, Finland, Austria, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile, Brazil, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Italy, and possibly others. Anyway so the MAGA crew decides to protest anywhere such services are offered. They have a right to peaceful protest as long as they don't start shooting doctors etc. as they have done in the past. If the workers need protection from violent actions by MAGA nuts, that is fine. That's what happened in Little Rock under Eisenhower when Orval Faubus tried to stop the integration of the public schools. Racism. The protestors have no right to obstruct the centers. In the case of Renee Good, she was not obstructing government agents. In the case of Alex Pretti, he was not obstructing government agents. In fact he was shot in the back. So going on...a MAGA protestor shows up with a gun. Nothing usual they have done it many times. He gets into an altercation. What started the altercation? Did he initiate it? Was he violent? Did he harm others? Did he draw his gun? Point it at government officials? Threaten to soot someone? Specify please. Why would he be disarmed? In Alex Pretti's case he had his back to the agents, was trying to help a woman who had been pushed to the ground, had his hands on the ground, was disarmed for no reason and then shot in the back; and after laying dead on the ground was shot nine more times. So if something like that happened if Trump had not been elected, it would require a full scale investigation by the government, the state, and independent agencies. We would not blame the victim as the MAGA crew is doing... and we would not apply a double standard (he brought a gun to a demonstration, only the MAGA crowd is allowed to do that) and we would not assume he was irresponsible as you seem to be doing, and we would not initiate a coverup as Trump is doing.
@Bocci. If a maga-fascist was killed in an identical situation under a democratic president then yes I would be equally outraged. But here is the point: Alex Pretti wasn't being overly aggressive. This isn't even about perspective. Thinking so is just another form of deception. Many of the things that the Trump admin is doing aren't just wrong on a partisan level, they are clearly wrong to anyone with a half decent conscience that hasn't been brainwashed by right wing media. And a lot of people on the right have been brainwashed. Somehow the republicans have convinced people that it is only these radical democrats that are outraged. But actually many of the things being done by the Trump admin are outrageous. The republicans are the radical ones, and they have become professional gaslighters. I'm not even a democrat and I don't even support getting involved in politics. But I can tell that there is something seriously wrong with the current administration. For that matter Trump isn't even a real republican. George Bush hates him. What was it that Bush said? "Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone, provides permission for cruelty and bigotry, and compromises the moral education of children,” I mean sure federal agents have a right to defend themselves using lethal force in extreme situations. But Alex Pretti's case wasn't an extreme situation. This isn't a partisan issue. It's about tyranny.
Ah yes. If only your side in complete control all would be right with the world and sound minds would always prevail. Well, I guess there’s one example to answer my question about perceptual filters. Btw, deconstructionist interrogatory techniques impress undergrads and those who don’t recognize them as nothing more than a rhetorical tactic. They don’t impress me and, as I’ve demonstrated in the past, I’ll not be intimidated into playing defence to your badgering. No worries. You can fall back on deleting my posts or editing and re-editing your own to make them seem less bitchy and ever more clever.
I agree. The federal agent in the pretti incident appears to have made a severe mistake that cost a human life. It seems to deserve a sober and thorough investigation. It is also clearly obvious that these protests are designed to provoke an over aggressive response by law enforcement, a tactic right out of communist revolutionary histories. The goal IS to create a martyr or martyrs , around which to rally popular sentiment and claim the moral high ground. My question was, would the folks who so easily and automatically identify this incident as an outrageous act of government violence against “peaceful” protesters, be as inclined to do so if things had occurred in an opposite sort of political environment.
Probably not but my example was before the whole MAGA thing when they turned so so many freedom types into total bootlickers. I remember the "checkpoint refusal" videos from before the MAGA thing the right wing liberty people refusing to show ID to Obamas ICE roadside checkpoints.
My own answer is the same in either scenario: Did he have children? If not, pin a Darwin Award on whatever is left of his chest and bury the idiot. If he did have kids, bury the idiot. I don’t care if he’s right, left, team Edward, or Hufflepuff. He ended his life as a pawn for powers that care nothing for him except what his sacrifice may do to advance their own strategy to get/keep power.

You misconstrue my statements. I said, "So if something like that happened if Trump had not been elected, it would require a full scale investigation by the government, the state, and independent agencies." That isn't a statement that "my side" is right. I said that if a MAGA individual, during the altercation, after he is seemingly disarmed by one of the agents, something causes one of the agents to panic, and respond by mag-dumping this maga-agitator in the back, thus killing him instantly. ...It would require a full scale investigation by the (Federal) government, the state, and independent agencies. You have to explain this to me. Deconstructionism is the study of the relation of text to meaning, as I understand it. Interrogation is inquiry, asking questions. I have no idea how you linked the two. I have no idea why you think you need to be defensive in a discussion. I asked for clarity as to why and how the individual in your example got into an altercation as that is relevant to the hypothetical. Do I have to point out that there are valid reasons for a government agent to shoot someone and invalid reasons? Or are you saying government agents are above the law? Excuse me for asking a question (interrogation). It seems to me you are accusing me of badgering you and deleting your posts. I take extreme offense to that and if that is the way you feel I suggest you contact another mod, or Skip, or Zen and present your complaint and any evidence you can muster. Further anytime I edit my posts, and I do so frequently, the posts are noted as edited with a time stamp. I always proof read two or three times and correct grammatical errors and factual errors. I would hope everyone does the same.
Two agents, not one. The protests would never had happened if Trump didn't send ICE into that area and not reign in their abuse of American citizens, immigrants, legal or not, and native Americans. Minneapolis was peaceful until ICE arrived. Just like the insurrection. Without Trump it doesn't happen. I agree, that the goal is to create chaos and confusion so that ICE, other Federal agents, and as Steve Bannon says, the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions surround all polling places during the next election. Not to mention giving Trump an excuse to outlaw the rights of the states to hold elections and have the Republican party run them itself.
