I live in Florence AL! The cost of living here is even cheaper than places like Huntsville. But I love Alabama for other reasons than that...I just love the warm weather, even though its cold right now. And people are just nice down south...I dont care what people up north say, I used to live there, and they werent as friendly (in my experience anyway). Sadly, I dont see many hippie-like-folk in this town, even though its a college town...

HappyDrivin, I am right up the road from you! We go to Decatur to eat at the Steak N Shake when we can afford it, and the drive is only 45 min.

I'm from Florence and have lived there all of my life. Just recently I moved to Huntsville but still travel to Florence to work on the weekends.

How you likin' Huntsville? I used to live in Madison (right outside Huntsville) until this past summer, when I moved to Florence. So we kinda swapped places. I like both cities...they each have something good about them even though theyre different.

So far so good. There are a lot of new places to eat at like resteraunts that specialize in Indian, Korean, and German cuisine. My father lives in Madison and my uncle lives in Athens so I've been back in forth many times.

You go to UNA? I went to Shoals last year and this fall I'll be going to UAH.

I'm a ways from Banks, but I've been an Organic farmer in Alabama for a looong time. Banks, being between Montgomery & Dothan & very near Troy sounds like a great location (lots of customers). Come by the Garden Forum sometime. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=58

Yeah, and he's not on board with the Blues forum yet either. Was any of that Albert King anything you needed to stay away from?
In case you didn't need to avoid those, because... maybe you already had them in your collection, here are some other sites to not go to and not download from:

    > SUGGESTION< We get Barack Obama to change his last name to O'bama... that might help. [btw: did you know his full name is Barack Hussein Obama?]

But, yeah, I think we need an Alabama forum, in fact I think here in Redneck land, Bush country, and considering everything else, we need it more than most states.

    Peace,

I totall agree with you, Poor old dad.

And memo, good luck at UAH. Just a heads up, its a tough school. I went there for a year and half. Im sure youll do fine, just trying to let you know that its nothing like a community college, from my experience anyway!

    i'm in mobile.
it's not really a misfortune of living here.
i mean, once you get over the obvious facts.
you know, the redneck infestation, etc.
you begin to see the beautiful things around you.
i personally love to drive around bc you have everything within driving distance from you here in mobile, alabama.
you've got the beaches, florida, new orleans, atlanta, bonnaroo, jazzfest, bayfest and bands are coming down here more often, since in a really long time bc of 92 zew!
92.1 the zew and 96.1 the rocket.
the zew is an awesome bonnaroo radio station!

I'm next door in MS. Both bama and mississippi are very good states. Yes we end up the last on the wrong list alot of times, but we have great features. Beside be able to afford to live here, there's great places to visit. Oak Mountain outside of birmingham is a great place to visit. Jackson hosts the international ballet competition every four years. I'm not into ballet, but this is the only place in America where this event is held.

Both states have an image of being back woods, but lots of great people have come from us, including us.

yes, we our states are really good friends =]
i know, people think all that resides down here
are ignorant, into-incest rednecks who hunt & fish.
but, i don't know anyone down here who inter-breeds.
that's just plain sick & degrading and not to mention, fucked.
it is really cheap to live here, yes, i agree.
yes, we truly are great people =]
