Apples and oranges again. Abortion presupposes the ability to get pregnant. I agree with Meliai that a person being asked to carry a fetus and go through the pains of childbirth has a special personal stake in the matter that a man just doesn't have, although all opinions on the complex issue should be heard. In the words of my dear late mother concerning the priests' teachings on reproduction, "They're a bunch of celibate old men, what do they know!".Having a uterus and being able to get pregnant are the relevant characteristics. Where women in sports are concerned, reproductive organs are not the relevant factor. The IOC and other sporting associations have moved away from that and chromosomes to hormone levels as more relevant criteria to determine eligibility.
IOC rules transgender athletes can take part in Olympics without surgery
Do transgender athletes have an unfair advantage? Should Men Who Identify as Women Compete in Women's Sports?
Seems reasonable to me, but the matter isn't relevant to the abortion issue. The postmodernist notion that gender is purely subjective in the context of athletic competition strikes me as absurd, as would Six's decision to declare himself a woman for purposes of claiming an equal stake in the abortion controversy.

As for the question, who is to decide, since we don't know whether or not the potential human will be an Einstein, an Manson, or just another Joe or Josephine Blo? We are to decide as best we can, on the basis of the best available evidence and arguments. I think the utilitarian principle of greatest happiness for the greatest number, supplemented by the contractarian principle of fairness to all or to society's least advantaged, should be the deciding considerations. I think the Supreme Court did a decent job with that in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

  2. If it's a case where the man even has the opportunity to feel an emotional connection to the fetus, I don't see how the pains of childbirth really factors into whether it's right to have an abortion. Like I said, you just shouldn't be having sex if you don't want to have a baby.

It's kind of a double-edged sword, because on the one hand you don't want infants to fall into the hands of irresponsible people left to raise them, but on the other hand you don't want to engender this idea that you can go around doing whatever you like and then just have the fetus killed if you don't want it. You can't promote that kind of irresponsibility, because it teaches people that life isn't something sacred. That's the kind of society where people eventually have no respect for the lives of anyone around them.

I'm not trying to argue either :) i'm not trying to say people arent entitled to their opinions either. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone is entitled to agree or disagree with an opinion as well.

I just find it really troublesome when someone's opinion affects someone else's life in an adverse way...because that goes well beyond having an opinion, it becomes a matter of physical control of another human being. Someone's expression of an opinion can't hurt me but if enough people share the same opinion they can put people in power who then can pass laws that adversely affect my life or someone else's life in a negative way.
Which is what we're seeing in Alabama. And i'm only 2 states removed from Alabama, both in culture and geographically so this hits home for me, they're trying to pass a restrictive abortion ban here too.
Being against abortion is one thing but as we can see with what has happened in Alabama, sometimes opinions can hold enough power to pass laws that negatively impact real people in a very real way and that just...makes me angry and sad, to be honest

  5. All these laws are going to do is make abortions more grotesque and brutal. If you're trying to protect babies from pain, you're going about it the wrong way. On the one hand it could be terminated almost before it begins. On the other hand a nine month old infant can get a coathanger through its skull. Which is worse.

    I don't understand these men.

These "men" have close ties to the Mafia, KKK, and Neo-Nazis. If they can't own something, it has no value to them, including their own women and children. Their world is either dominate or submit, own the other person or be owned. Sometimes, they will even commit suicide after killing their entire family, because if they can't take it with them, nobody can.

  8. I find that difficult to believe, though I am probably naive. Why would you want to create so much grotesque filth? I can only imagine that they honestly don't comprehend where this leads, where it has led to in the past. But maybe they are just villains.

You don't understand, the lights might be on, but there is nobody home. Their hatred, fear, and anger become who they are, as they decide their negativity is more important than loving even themselves.

Slavers, Nazis, and the Mafia have been creating southern culture from the moment the US was established. They are creating our culture, establishing where everyone draws lines in the sand, because treating people like property to be used and abused is something they are familiar with and, in the US, money talks and bullshit walks, if it can get away. The corruption gets worse the closer you get to Florida, Louisiana, and Texas, because the illegal traffic increases dramatically.

During the 1980s, due to the vicious cocaine wars, Miami lost half their police force, only to discover a few years later that they had replaced them with guys with felony arrest records who were working both sides of the street.

I think it's just easier to classify people into hate groups to coincide with people's judgements. :p

The US loves to focus on racism and religious intolerance as taboo subjects, because actually paying attention to all the corruption is the real taboo. Our president was a democrat elected against the wishes of the party leaders, has not paid taxes in twenty years, has been sued by even a porn star, is a huge fan of professional wrestling and a reality TV star in his own rite, because we don't discriminate against criminals.

It's the easiest and most effective way to slander, libel, and discredit people

  16. It's weird how women have to take these small steps to empower themselves and stop being seen as sexual objects. And they're almost tentative steps, because they also want to be seen as sexual objects. But if a woman, say, takes her high heels off on the red carpet, that's such a small thing, but is seen as a revolutionary act. Girls just aren't taken seriously.

If I think these men are evil, it's because they don't respect women. I feel like women have a huge hurdle to overcome. But I also feel like they willingly play into the trap that is set for them. As long as they have to be appealing to men, they're going to be insecure and weak.

It's like, women are beautiful, no doubt. As pretty as mountains or a pleasant valley. Just this overwhelming natural beauty. But that very beauty destroys them, because men are reckless with beautiful things.

Americans have an infatuation with hate. Everything comes down to racism and hate. What a constructed load of nonsense. I'm proud to be as reconstructed as I am. If something doesn't go right in my life that shits on me, not the KKK and not racism and definitely not what fucken Donald Trump did 15+ years ago lol.

  18. Americans are very immature when it comes to the idea of standing up for their rights. All talk and no balls. They love to talk.

Trump is nobody in charge of a bunch of nobodies who keep voting for whoever advertises the most. If you want change, better bring a lot of change, and stop paying so much attention to the fucking boob tube.

  20. Instead we'll go for Joe Biden. And he'll be a little right of center. And then some lunatic far rightist will come along and sound a little less crazy than he should. And the cycle continues.
