Alabama Abortion Bill

Abortion is essentially illegal in the state of Alabama now. Gov. Kay Ivey signed into law the most restrictive abortion law in the country today after it passed the state's legislature. Amendments to the bill granting exemptions in cases of rape or incest were defeated in the state senate by a vote of 11-21. Roe v. Wade will be challenged and, with the current 'conservative' makeup of the court, could potentially be overturned.

Will this be a factor in the coming election? Will this change your vote?

I'm pro choice but the worse crime is putting women who want to do what ultimately should be up to them (not men) in prison for decades when men can rape children, rape women, murder, destroy the economy, drive drunk, do incredibly rash and irresponsible shit, and get away with it because they are subservient to the white man cult. obviously im a bit of a hypocrite as a white dude who was ONLY ever had REALLY PLEASANT interactions with all police ( and probably a pussy to boot for not using this to my advantage and doing more wrong shit to get ahead in life knowing i will get off easy / with a little charm sprinkled in ) but I still would rather a world where we arent stomping womens faces down with boots and worshiping a death cult of extreme and unorthodox competition

that being said I think people on the left do over react sometimes and I think they should think about why people agree with these laws more, if you were someone born in a situation that a lot of people might decide to abort in, I can see why pro choice might even make you really anxious or feel personally attacked. also i dont think people understand the DEEP indoctrination that is THOUSANDS of years long that is christianity, which is mind control in a (creepy of me to say, not trying to admire_ but really pure, strong and almost impressive form to even penetrate the internet age..

either way whatever happens I want a future where people live in harmony. punishing women and allowing men to do more and more CRIME is NOT a harmonious future. giving women more OPTIONS and ABILITIES to be COMFORTABLE , IS, but I think right now a lot of whats holding that back is arguing and not focusing on what could be new solutions to make everyone feel better

if we could find new procedures we could literally put alive fetuses into a different woman and let women who want to save fetuses be the ones who birth them

Oh and lets talk about the Gilead, oops I mean the Ohio abortion bill that hasnt been passed, yet, but is being discussed

It will criminalize birth control. Because some idiot lawmaker in Ohio thinks birth control can cause spontaneous abortion
And the same idiot lawmaker also wants to ban abortions in the case of ectopic pregnancy. (which isnt even an abortion, it is a lifesaving and medically necessary surgery). Because he thinks that the fetus from an ectopic pregnancy can simply be removed and reimplanted in the uterus. Yup, old dudes are now writing laws for women based on completely imaginary, nonexistant medical procedures

These restrictive laws make me sick. I understand people who are against abortion on a personal level, but these laws arent about morality, or even religion. They're about control.

The thing that bothers me is, despite what I think about irresponsible, non protective sex blah blah... If someone doesn't want to have a baby and you have to force it on them, I fear the baby isn't going to be looked after properly. Like maybe the girl or dad or couple mature a bit etc and get involved, but I can see a lot of people distancing from the baby they didn't want. I fear more kids will have to be given up to adoption and foster homes and orphanage etc. It just ends up more tax dollars on everybody to support these babies that weren't really meant to be here.

    Does that make sense?

And if it's all religious reasoning then honestly the church should have to pay for it all. Housing, homes, education. It's their priority, they should fund it. :unamused:

    I’m pro-choice

The Alabama law is unconstitutional and will be struck down by the hand of God (using their own rhetoric)

I’m also pro-choice, but since I’m male, I don’t believe I should have any say In the decision process. I went to high school in the early 60s in Wisconsin. This was before Roe v Wade and even birth control was difficult to obtain and the result was a plethora of high school pregnancies since high schoolers had sex....duh. How can any zealot want to return to those days? How cruel to heap guilt and shame on people trying to deal with emotionally difficult situations.

WTF is up with this, "Because I'm male, I shouldn't have an opinion on abortion," BS?

These people be all like: "Since you're a man, you opinion on abortion doesn't matter since you ain't got a uterus."

Yet the same people are also all like: "Men can be women if they want to. Gender is a fluid social construct."

Fuck off and pick one cuz you can't have both!

The US no longer has anything remotely like a democracy and is lucky to have anything remaining that resembles the rule of law. In Arizona the cops can bust down any door they want without a warrant and just claim they smelled pot. Once they shot a veteran of two gulf wars 32x in front of his mother when they got the wrong address and he shoved the rest of his family in the closet and refused to surrender his weapon. Cops all over the country have been confiscating people's cellphones whenever they feel like it and the courts are now even compelling people to testify against themselves. If the Constitution were a roll of toilet paper I'd flush it down the toilet so people are less confused about why everyone in the country is suddenly acting like the law doesn't apply to them.

Our president has not paid taxes in twenty years, was elected against the wishes of his own party leaders, and cut the mass media a deal on their rent, because he of all people knows the rule of law is for losers and Americans and the Mafia both hate losers.

Men are entitled to their opinion on abortion, but should be cognizant of the fact that it's women who will bear the brunt of their opinion.

Women should be conscious of the fact, the decision has always been their own to make, while Fundamentalist Christians have the highest abortion rates in the developed world. Inbred.

Men who don't like abortion should get a vasectomy.

The NRA would like to take this opportunity to remind women many states allow them to carry concealed weapons, while it is legal to shoot anyone who tries to steal your wallet in Texas.

Of course men have opinions but in the end it is the woman who must decide to have the procedure.

Not if the entire white population is imploding due to its complete lack of touch with reality. Woman don't have a choice, if their own lifestyles promote extinction.

You think the predominant reasoning behind this law really is that some whiteys feel their race is threatened? :p

Forty years of extensive studies concluded the republican party organizes like chickens. I tell people you have to be smarter than a chicken, and the white people of America resemble the Three Stooges and Mafia. Only in America doth success breed self-contempt, while the Japanese population is crashing too, because they've always been corrupt as hell. Their men prefer their porn stars to look about 13 years old, while Maryland Monroe is looking more plain every day.

The state of Virginia sterilized 20,000 teens for being poor white trash, insisting they were saving the tax payers money on new prisons. Christians are so loving, so compassionate, so caring the entire country is going down the toilet and ready to practice eugenics, while banning abortion.

It isnt about race per se, but I do think it is about a group of people who have traditionally held power in society losing that power and making their final, dying power grabs in an effort to maintain control

I think part of this is that they have always done things in their own self interest, and will never believe that women and/or people of colour won't fuck the white dudes at their first chance. The idea that someone would have power and use it to try and improve things for the entire society is alien to them, and they don't understand it at all.
