Sony Reon Pocket: A Cool Wearable Air Conditioner You Control With Your Smartphone | HotHardware

Apparently, it works pretty well, and the military probably already has something like it. Such devices can often keep your body temperature a good 10-15 degrees f cooler, but what this example shows is how the clothing itself has to be designed for the purpose. While I don't think they'll get much better results than 10-15 degrees, they should be able to get the same results without even having to power the thing. Already, for example, carbon membranes are being used to not only desalinate water, but to generate electricity in the process, by running fresh water from rivers on one side, and salt water from the ocean on the other. There is no reason you can't have clothing that uses your own sweat and sunlight to cool you, which is exactly what the military would like to have.

For roughly $5,000.oo you can buy a bulletproof business suit, but it won't keep you cool under fire. Thankfully, this is Sony technology, because if Microsoft got a hold of it the fashion world would commit suicide.

No need, the mass media loves nothing better than to claim they are full of more crap than anyone else.
