I saw Swordfish, and wasn't a big fan of her boobs, and never found her very sexy until I saw Monster's Ball. She's still an overrated actress, but she certainly can be every bit as sexy as everyone says. I'm pretty sure at least one of them was a middle class apologist thug, I only make sure I have protection in the white crack neighborhood if I have money on me =P The black hoods around here have been really friendly (though, my first time going to one alone, I wore a The Four Tops shirt - just in case)
Thats what you got from it, it is not what I implied nor what I intended to imply. I'm not so stupid as to understand that ebonics belong to a small subculture, a subculture that is identified with African Americans, but does not comprise all African Americans. Common Sense should have made that obvious to you.
Yeah, their culture must be inferior. Where I live at least, must mean what you call America? This thread should be titled: White People in Denial. Or maybe, Denial As a Means of Economic Supremacy.
Witty= not talking about base issues. Cultural savvy, offended dis dat, nomenclature, white man's logic, ideology, morality...all would have been fair game
Well you see that's my point, it's really not a race issue but a class issue. People of lower income generally don't speak as well as folks with a bigger paycheck black or white.
But your very being, your very existence has untold consequences for the african american community Hotwater
Yeah, there is income disparity. But in terms of this thread, I don't think bringing all instances of race up somehow equates. I don't think discussions of class in regards to African American slang are necessarily suiting. When I say I want people to get along in a thread about lingo and race, I don't think 'we can't get along because societys unfair' is necessarily accurate. Society does have real problems that need to be addressed. This may not be the right medium. And if it is, it shouldn't be tied as an alternative to a larger desire for understanding. It's one and the same.
