Like white people as opposed to black people?

What is so wrong with Africa? There are many men of american citizenship that take pride in their african ancestry. Obviously, your friend is not the sole authority on the issue.

There isn't anything wrong with Africa. There isn't anything wrong with having ancestral pride of any nation. There is something wrong with it being right to assume a person is African cause they are black.
If they are born here, they are American.If they have real dark skin, it's understandable to refer to them as black. Black =/= African.

Has been my experience as well. I've never met someone offended by black, I've met many offended by African American.

 

So maybe you can find me a black person who cannot trace his history to the African continent ---> (I know you're going to bring up Afro-Caribbeans who are themselves of African descent).

People of separate bank rolls happen to disproportionately have larger bank rolls if they are white and smaller bank rolls if they are black. Is that because white people are more deserving and work harder than black people?

 

i have to dumb down the words i speak for the blackies at work...more so than i have to do for the spics who don't speak english, at least they understand the smile and nod

they aren't african, and they are far from being an american...as far as i'm concerned that is.

Wow, "unique to African American culture" is that the equivalent of shooting out of the womb with a TuPac album already in my repertoire? You make it sound like it's some collective movement towards ebonics. Not only that but it is pretty ignorant to ask such a thing, common sense should have given you your answer already.

From my experience most people in urban areas speak different from the general population not just black people, which is why I don't understand why it's a big fucking deal.

As for the comment about urban blacks (you can tell the difference between none urban blacks by how much jewelry they wear, lol) I have yet to have anyone black or lighter get pissed at me for not trying to talk like them.

I'm white. My single mother family is just over the welfare barrier. If I was black, we would be well under it.
I don't know about all over the country, I can honestly say; and I'd imagine in the South things might be worse for blacks than my experience. But, when I was signing up for scholarships, I could find none for me posted around the school. I slacked off a bit, and graduated with a 3.0. ALL of the scholarships for whites were 3.5 and up, most of them were strictly 4.0.
I didn't see a scholarship for blacks that started over 3.0, and they were as low as 2.5.
Blacks get a disproportionate amount of opportunity (where I live at least). The things that keep them down most is the culture within the areas that they live.

There's a lot more to salary differences than discrimination.

 

yes. intelligent black people not so much, but the hoodrats are almost unintelligible at times. the same with white hood rats. I guess that is what comes with "bein all ghetto"
