Affordable Peace Instant gratification is knowing, Money can buy you anything! Even momentary happiness, Is much better than nothing. Drink all the saltwater you want but, Contentment is only for those who can afford it. Peace seldom remains affordable for very long, Our words cost more with each passing year. When a nation has a nice sense of humor, Horses draw manure through their fields. When a nation looses its sense of humor, Horses bare soldiers through their streets. There is no greater sickness on earth, No greater possible disaster exists, Than losing our sense of humor, Ignoring our own horseshit! Buying unsatisfying crap, Nobody Wants!!!!! Poisoning the very ground itself, Feeling incapable of ever stopping.
The second half of this poem is derived from the Tao Te Ching and merely phrased in more modern, minimalistic terms, that accentuate the temporal dynamics and emotional emphasis. Adding the first half was just something spontaneous like all of my poems. Sooner or later, the inspiration comes to me, so my only job is to look for inspiration in everything. This one goes in my collection as a better way to express the same poem within the theme of potty humor. The Tao Te Ching poems are all the most minimalistic versions possible, but adding the first half allowed me to minimize the second half further.
