Advice on life

Alice maybe you have luxuries and a great life, but most people in the western world do not. Many people, such as myself, are burdened with two parents who are horrible alcoholics ever since they are born. Poverty and unemployment is out of control in the United States. Health care is very expensive, most people cannot afford health insurance. Our murder rate and violent crime rate is frequently counted as the highest in the world. We are plagued with very high rates of cancer, worse than most countries. We have plenty of disease and drug addiction here. Statistically, we are by no means a desirable country to reside in. I have not yet begun to touch on the largest problems of my society.

elfin1mf - I am a little confused are you sure you are talking about America because It sounds like you live and our talking about the slums of bogota columbia or a war torn provine in Afghanistan or Iraq or maybe you live in some other 3rd world country. I have no idea where you got your facts from about the U.S and the western wold but they are dead wrong.The United states and the western world have the highest state of living buy far ! unemployment is almost non existent in the Uuited states there are jobs every where that pay good. Walk down to your local wal mart they are always hiring workers. almost every one can get a eduction if they want and go to college. The crime rate in all major cities has droped stedaly over the last 20 years in the US. The slums and murder rate in South America and central america and other 3rd world countries make the slums in the U.S look like Beverly Hills -LOL. You would not belive how bad the murder rate is in all south American cities its almost 10 times higher then the murder rate of or worst city Detroit. and the so called poor hear are like the rich compared to the poor in 3rd world countries. For the poor in The U.S there is Welfare, Section 8, Food Stamps, social services, Medicaid and medicare,Full Grants for college, Free housing for the poor,etc.Try being poor in a 3rd world country there is no free hand outs there the goverment does not give you shit, you and your family are on your own You live in a shack made from card board and rotten wood and you eat and feed your family from the dump or garbage every day. The bottom line is we are lucky to live in the western World especially people who live countries like the U.S and the U.K., We really don't understand how lucky and spoiled we are to live hear !!!!!

the states and canada might be a good place with good jobs if you come from a family who has enough money to support you through a good school. for those of us who come from broken homes or alcoholics who cant afford to give you a good life north america can be a very hard place to live. even the people who do have good jobs are unhappy because of all the stress of it all. you wonder where he got his facts from when he obviously lives here - i wonder if you were ever paying attention on your psychedelic trips. the western modern world is flawed in many ways. those who think we have it made are in a serious case of denial.

 

All society has flaws, western, eastern, southern, and so forth. The western society is filled with lies, corruption, ignorance, money, greed, and so many more material vices, but even the praised eastern cultures have many flaws. Eastern religion has many great ideals though, but most eastern governments allow even less freedom than our American 'democracy.' If you really want to be happy, then society is not for you. A lasting happiness cannot be found here. The ones who have found lasting happinness in this world are the monks, the shamans, the homeless by choice, and the wilderness trekkers. (possibly the gypsys, but I haven't met a gypsy firsthand). We built society to be happy and to stay alive, but the farther it advances, the worse it gets. By this trend, I deduce that life must be better without it.

Another key point about the good ol USA is that it is based on slavery. We are total and complete police state. The majority of people are in for drug crimes, the majority of those people are in for marijuana. This is a sickening display of mass violation of human rights. YOUR right to put anything in YOUR body that you want. America feeds its people cheap crap and lies about a healthy diet. This is one of the real reasons for our high rate of cancer. We make a large portion of our funds selling drugs to people, waiting for them to make large amounts of cash by selling it to the poor, and then arresting the unsuspecting entrepeneur who never really had a chance and taking all of his hard earned drug money. We also make a large portion of money from health care, which is why we purposely allow our people to become ridden with cancer and other defects. We advertise for alcohol all night while bashing marijuana. It is a fully corrupt situation with the disguise of a 1st rate country. Our people are brainwashed into believing we are free but those are just words. I know very few people who can really think for themselves. REALLY can you say you know very many people who do not spout out televisionized moralistic bullshit? OUR MORALS ARE SCREWED!

Our incarceration rate is also that much higher and WAY MORE than it was 20 years ago. WE SOLVED NO PROBLEM. We just physically imprisoned everyone from the 13 year old down the block smoking his first J to the kind hearted drug dealer who did everything by the books. Despite our insane incarceration policies, we still have struggled to reduce crime despite what you said about us lowering it. STATISTICALLY compared to 20 years ago, Forcible rape is up, Aggrivated assault is up, Murder and Theft are only slightly down even though our incarceration rate is through the roof! Drug trafficking has increased substantially since the 1980s and the price of Heroin has drastically gone DOWN! The price of cocaine has gone DOWN. The abundancy of these drugs is FAR higher today than it was 20 years ago.

It is funny you mention South America, specifically you mentioned Columbia. I am good friends with a man who has lived in columbia for his childhood. He tells me that in the area he resided in, a governmental coup was going on and that people were murdered in front of him and babies were raped in front of him. Despite this, he says that the living conditions in Columbia were no worse than they are here in America, aside from the governmental coup he endured. He admits that a governmental coup may very well be a good thing, though it is filled with violence and corruption.

No one man can fix where the USA, let alone the world, has gone wrong. People would have to bond together to fix our problems, yet with every day nearly every person in the US is becoming more separated by technology, more brainwashed by the corporation, and become as individualistic as sheep. If no one is willing to stand up for what they believe in for fear of standing out, no one will band together in protest. If no one bands together, everyone involved is doomed to suffer at the hands of those with power. The ones with power are no longer even fairly elected officials, not only because no one votes anymore, but because of simple corruption and wrong motivations. Since when is a democratic official's main motivation to obtain a high ranking position only for the pay?

Have you ever listened to the wall by pink floyd? The worms are what comes out of 'the machine' or the meatgrinder commonly called the public school system/ modern society. The wasteproducts, the brainless masses, the sheep, the parasites, the followers, the naysayers, the faceless. There's around 6 billion of em on this planet, and very few are still able to stand on their own two feet and act independently of others.

It took me getting caught with hard drugs like coke,LSD and Herion 3 times before I even got probation and was made to go to rehab? It was not untill I had a record as big as the Magna Carta that I served any Jail time at all and that was for dealing coke.The laws today are very lenient on Drug addcits and Drug addiction. Here is another point. Any statistic that we see at all is not necessarily true. In other countries, people drive on the other side of the road. Some countries have more woman leaders. In Columbia, cocaine is the coffee. The US embassy in Columbia has released statements that it is healthy to use cocaine extracts in order to wake up in the morning and for several other daily uses. Do you really believe that many of the things you hear about aid to other countries and supposedly great health care is all pure and peachy? You need to understand that many of Africas problems are directly attributed to interference by supposed civilized countries. Ever hear of aparthied? you and I could never begin to understand how supposed "civilized" countries have damaged those people and enslaved them. Please just at least consider that the hype about American freedom and "SAVING THE WORLD" is a brainwashing ploy. For your information, it is very possible to be physically imprisoned for smoking a joint. That does not mean someone goes to a "prison" it can mean jail as well. My point was that anyone using drugs has to feel like they are on the run from the law and doing something wrong, even if it is their religion. Your opinions about heroin and cocaine being legalized causing "we could not count the number of crimes there would be do to hard drug's" is loony. Think about the large crime influx during alcohol prohibition! Making drugs illegal opens up a huge black market and allows the government to make even more profit from their trade. Making a drug illegal always increases crime rates and puts people in danger who have to shoot it out with drug traffickers. Violent crime always goes down when you legalise drugs. Just check statistics of the Netherlands and Germany. The US puts out fake statistics to make it look like they are right abouyt marijuana but Dutch governments deny those claims by the US.

Look, I respect everyones opinion as much as the next guy, but I find it hard to believe that the average person could be brainwashed into total acceptance and ignorance of the massive injustice we are enduring in the world today. One day someone built a tire which would never go bald. Where is it today? Why are not all of our products built to last forever? It is simple, you are fooled. If you were sold these products which never went bad for example a car that can run off of water, you would no longer depend on society as a complete and total slave.

I like how you support your opinions and stand behind them even though I don't agree with most of them I do however respect a person who says what they belive stands behind it and has the knowledge and info to back it up. I do agree on one thing and that is Gun control something has to be done to get guns off the streets. Yeah I don't want to get involved in the middle of this debate, but I will put in my opinion that the USA may be the most free society/country in the world, despite how not free it is. Although I don't have first hand accounts to back this up, because I haven't visited very many countries yet. I've heard Norway, Germany, The Netherlands, and Australia are pretty free and I plan on visiting all of these.

 

I have long planned on living in Germany and possibly Netherlands. The smartest man I ever knew explained to me the political injustices which are present in America but Germany and Netherlands seem to have evolved passed. He explained that it is very difficult to be allowed access into The Netherlands to live for any reason. My best shot is to get a degree in a field which they will have job openings. He was a philosophy PhD so I have decided to most likely major in that. In my opinion, the more school I can attend the better, even if I attend school deep into my 30s. Hopefully one day the world will be able to look back on their foolish ways and laugh. I think that this is going to be difficult if we can not even remember what our ways are. I was astonished to learn that Britain is rewriting history books in order to produce a more profitable work force. It makes me wonder how many times history has been skewed in corruption. A common theory on this forum becomes more real to me every day, whatever we think we know, really, we have no idea.

How many of you have all of your phone convos and internet activity filtered for keywords? For all we know, we are being monitored by computers every second. If a law was passed which took away even more of our freedoms, we are bullied into obeying it like a beaten dog. I cannot claim to know whether we are actually the best country to live in, but I do know that this country is run by terrorists. We are the ones bullying everyone else with threats of nuclear warfare. We have enough nukes to blow up the world 80 times right here. This is clearly not a fair negotiation tactic. We lie about other countries having one little nuke while we forget that it is US who are the ones doing the nuking. No one else. That is a historical fact, no one else used these sickening "WMDs" but the USA. And we have the nerve to accuse a defenseless country in order to increase our private stocks at the expense of human life. For all we know, Iraq was a peaceful place before we got there. Just because there are a select few countries who are long past abuse of the public does not mean we should forget about our own problems. I do in fact believe that I am lucky to live in a country that is not worse off than the USA, my point is that just because we are not the absolute worst country does not mean we should abandon hope for making our own lives better. We should recognize and address ALL of our problems until something is done. If we do not take action, history shows us that a country can grow more and more fascist until we live under a full blown police state. My point is simply that all signs point to our country getting worse. Our dollar is plummeting in worth. We have more and more unconstitutional laws passed each few years. We are slowly losing our privacy. Just because it is not quite Nazi Germany yet does not mean we are not headed towards this direction, slowly as it may be. We are already invading countries who have nothing to do with us against the UN council laws and decisions. We act as if we were sent by god to increase the stocks of our leaders. If our technology is so great why do we not use the most basic technology to mass produce crops automatically? It is very easy to do. Everyone could then receive free food forever with little or no effort. This has been a possibility for probably over a hundred years if not longer. I am sure you are aware of this but you are in denial because you want to justify working at a job that has no purpose and you hate.
