I'm sure they will laugh at you again when you ask them.

  2. If you want a robot just like a human, why not just clone a human?

These robots will have circuitry that operates at the speed of light, roughly a million times faster than a human brain, or better. If you think of life as one big jig-saw puzzle we all assemble together, this robot could do it all for us and then show us how it all works. Imagine we are currently the seven blind men debating what an elephant is like, and refusing to share our words and play nice. Automation will put an end to such nonsense and establish that we are not nearly as clever as we think we are. Without humanity learning a lesson in humility, there can be no future.

  5. So how are we going to get them to access non-local consciousness?

The implication of 42 being as good as any other explanation, is that the brain itself is a singularity and, my own belief is that the poetry I write, extrapolated from the Tao Te Ching, expresses a singularity as well. They are both magical in some respects, and in the brain this should be most apparent in sparkling laughter, the infectious kind, which should prove to convey energy and information with more than 100% efficiency. Genuine laughter, should resemble the Big Bang itself and modern science should be able to prove that Santa's sparkling laughter really is magical and our connection to the collective unconscious.

Using the same mathematics expressed in the Tao Te Ching, it should be possible to make an interactive version that expresses even stronger yin-yang dynamics and can entangle the operator and machine. From what I've been able to learn, growing your hair long is an advantage, because it serves as a type of antenna. By entraining your brain waves it should be possible to even produce ecstatic experiences on demand and produce a kind of Woody Allen style Orgasmitron. The porn industry may become the next religion.

Basically once it happens then I will pay attention.

Its beem 30/40 years of hearing this shit, AI is just around the corner.

    Its never going to happen

30/40 years is not a long time.
i'd say if someone talked about it, then it existed 100 years later.. it had been "right round the corner"

You get these kind of science articles almost weekly

It aint going to happen anytime soon

    100+ years more like it

It can never have emotion. I like the color blue- why? That cant be measured. It cant feel. Show compassion. Not everything can be programed. It's close and sure some day will fool us.

People always insist they are unique and can't be boxed and labeled, until some lawyer either pays them off or threatens to sue them.

okay, well i think if true AI comes about in 100 years time, for what it is we're talking about, i consider that "soon"

i also don't think humans will create it as such anyway, it will evolve out of what we create.

if humans didn't under-estimate the time things would take, nothing would get done, because most people don't care about what happens in 100 years.
the articles keep the ideas alive.

i think actually, if we had the ability to record and track every experience you had, every choice you made.. we would eventually be able to tell what caused people to have various favourite colours. if an AI tells you it's favourite colour is purple.. what do you say to that? no, it can't have a favourite colour? the fact you DON'T know why your favourite colour is blue means you don't really understand your own consciousness enough to know that the AI telling you it likes purple is any different than you are.

some humans don't show compassion. i believe that a much deeper understanding of, and advancements in neuroscience could lead to "cures" for things like psychopathy. what evidence is there that we aren't just programmed by our experiences? if we could program an AI to be programmed by its experiences, why should it be any different?

AI are almost always faster and anywhere from 10,000-100,000x cheaper and more efficient than using traditional electronics, with over a trillion dollars invested in AI research in the last year alone. Twenty years tops and they will have an advanced AI that is indistinguishable from a human being.

  17. All we have to do is somehow magically entangle non-local consciousness with some circuitry. Heck, I'd say even next week we could have an AI indistinguishable from a human!

The universe is apparently self-organizing, growing like a flower or whatever, and so is our consciousness. A baby can be said to be aware and even conscious after a fashion, while half the world believes everything is alive and aware, including the toilet. For over a century the evidence of quantum mechanics has implied the universe is ultimately magical and inexplicable, and the entire world is in for a rather large pie-in-the-face, because reality doesn't work anything like most people assume it does.

Mother nature decides what is possible in such cases. You can think of her as the ego of the collective unconscious, and her only job is to prevent any metaphysical and conceptual extremes by imposing balance whenever necessary. Cave men could not invent the atom bomb even if aliens had given the knowledge, because mother nature forbids any metaphysical or conceptual extremes that don't support the future of the universe.

We are approaching a turning point in the history of humanity, childhood's end, and nothing will be allowed to interfere with humanity maturing. You cannot rush puberty no matter how hard you try, and it is counterproductive to try.

  20. So let's just hope that robots are on Mother Nature's agenda.
