Addiction to video games

a guy at school. quit school to play WoW. all the good men that has fallen to WoW. its like the plague over the gaming comunety. GIP all thouse who fell for it.

I heard theres like sub-bliminal(sp?) messages in video games.Thats why so many people get hooked.The company's who make these games don't care if all you do is play video games and not have a social life.As long as you keep buying their products.

 

Subliminal messaging is illegal. If a game company got caught putting subliminal messages in games they would go bankrupt within a month from all the law suits. There's no way they would put subliminal messages in games, as sooner or later they'd be done for it.

 

I heard these messages are everywhere...Kids TV shows,MTV,commercials, etc...

 

Don't believe everything you hear.

 

I'm addcited to video games but i only playfrom 1am-12pm. This way it dosnt interferewith my social life. its not true u need sleep to live, i havnt slpt in 3 weeks, although i am paranoid and twicthy

I play strategy games now. Can put 'em down no prob.

 

Video games own me... and I like it. I get up at 12 PM, play untill 3 AM, and repeat. It's a good life. Social lives are amazingly over-rated. You may think I'm just saying that because I don't have a huge one, but I honestly believe it. Some people simply don't enjoy large amounts of social interaction.

I do think a video game addiction is possible... there is internet addiction, so why would this be any different?

Why it affects guys more... I've seen girls just as obsessive with video games as well, but I do think that a lot of games are directed towards guys more.

And I don't think it's a stereotype to say that guys and women GENERALLY have different interests.

Yes, some women can get into fighting games, or racing games, etc. But the majority probably don't... it might be a product of the way females and males are raised and treated differently or there could be a psychological explanation...either way, I do not think it's stereotypical.

The majority of games available aren't the type of games I would see a lot of women getting into... but, I have an addiction to puzzles myself, and when my boyfriend got Mortal Kombat: Deception, with the puzzle kombat... I was playing puzzle kombat for HOURS.

Most boys and girls are raised differently---it's assumed to buy a little girl a doll or stuffed toy, where boys will get games and action figures, etc... so, I think a lot of it has to do with the mere fact that boys are just more subjected to it from the time they are young so its easier for them to stick with it.

As a little girl, I was around my brother a lot, and played TONS of nintendo with him... but I'm not into the new age games what so ever. my boyfriend has been hooked on Xbox 360 and I just don't get it... if he brought home a Nintendo though, he wouldn't be able to pry that controller out my hands.

And I think its because I just don't dig the new modern games as much... they aren't my style. Mario Bros. was so unisex, where like all these new fighting games and what not... most girls just simply don't get into it. Simple as that.
