My bible is written, Put not your trust in princes. Your is not written in caps. Nor is there any confusion in the way the pronoun is used, until YOU capitalized it. The context clearly indicates plurality.

My answer to the question was also a copy and paste and explained why the translators sometimes used capital letter and sometimes didn't. If you don't like their reasons take it up with them.

So what are you trying to say? That Adam was the Son of God, and passed it on to Jesus through his lineage? That Jesus was conceived by Joseph instead of the Holy Spirit? That "ben adam" means son of the man called Adam? The passage from Luke that you quote says that people mistakenly thought Jesus was the son of Joseph (of course we know better), and then traces the lineage of Joseph back to the earliest times, as could be done with anyone. What is your point? Ordinarily we use the word "son" to mean someone's immediate male offspring, not the son of the son of the son of the son of the son of the son of the son of his greatest greatest greatest grandfather far removed. And it's obvious that if we didn't have humans before Jesus, He would never have made His appearance.

This is really messed up. The phrase "Son of Man" is a reference to Jesus' humanity, underscoring my point that Adam means "man" in the generic sense. The phrase "Son of Man" comes from Mesopotamia, and denotes humanity or mankind. The Greek translation is Anthropos (human). The phrase ben adam appears often in the Bible:The Book of Numbers (god is not a ben adam that He should change his mind); Psalms 8:4-5 (what is ben adam that you care for him? As for references to the Messianic figure of Ezekial 2, Daniel 7:16-18, and 4 Ezra, they aren't talking specifically about the dude in the Garden of Eden named Adam.

 

I apologize waterbrother. Are you telling me you copied and pasted the quoted scripture from a version of the bible or was the verse copied from some other document? I also get confused by the fact that you offer copied and pasted material without credit to source. It appears as though you are answering questions with your own words, that is why I jump to question you directly about the content. I do not mean to accuse you of anything.

Could you tell me what version of the bible capitalizes the word "your" in that verse? Because my bible does not, nor does it provide an explanation of why it would be or not, capitalized.

 

As I've said before and thus is no secret, I have the New World Translation in digital form and since it is readily available to me I use it for most my posts of scripture.

I also like it for several reasons; one, it uses God's name rather than substituting LORD or GOD for it and another reason is the one that has been pointed out, it distinguishes between singular you and plural YOU.

Also it is a modern English translation which is easier to understand.

I also find that the translation is relatively accurate and neutral but I compare many different translations in personal study.

I find the comment that it is relatively accurate to be curious considering it is "God's word" and all. I wonder how you decide that God's word is "relatively accurate", and "neutral"?
