Actors you think should have got somewhere but didnt

Was watching Curse of Chucky tonight, which was the inspiration for this thread

Brad Dourif is one actor I thought really should have gotten somewhere but didnt. Nailed it in One Flew over the cuckoos nest, then Dune, but not really much else after that, saw him in a few star tek episodes, and the voice of Chucky of course, but no real mainstream success, strange cos he does creepy very very well

 

this is a subject that pops up in my head from time to time but i am not a big enough movie buff to say anyone with real confidence that they actually deserve more credit then they got. the one person that always pops in my head when i think about it is marc singer, and although he was in a fair amount of roles i dont know if being a kid and seeing him act made him seem better than he actually was. i will throw Mark Hamill out there for the same reason.... the similar first name.

no just kidding like marc i think as a kid i put him up higher than he deserved. after all he sounds like a winy brat when i watch star wars now. although that was kind of the role so you can say he plays it perfectly.

Brad Dourif is cool. Have you seen him in The Exorcist III with George C. Scott? Man, he was awesome in that role. Scared the shit out of me. There are a lot of good actors who haven't made it to the top for one reason or another. Maybe they get a reputation for being hard to work with, alcohol/drug issues, bad decisions on movies, poor management, etc. I always thought Emilio Estevez should have gotten farther than he did. He has 45 acting credits on IMDB, but several are voice acting or one episode appearances on various tv shows, and the rest are for the most part crap. He was even uncredited in Mission Impossible. He had some good ones though, like The Breakfast Club, Young Guns and The Outsiders, but not much else.

Hirsch I thought looks a lot like Taylor Kitsch, which made it a little confusing in Lone Survivor, which is a great movie, and has a lot of my favourite actors, Ben Foster as well

 

Although he is dead, Phil Hartman should have had more respect. He really was a great actor, but mostly did crap. Another actor who pops into my head is Allen Covert. He's a great actor, but he mostly does crap, and no one knows his name. Would be nice to see him get the recognition he deserves (oh, and act in something other than a crappy Adam Sandler so-called "comedy".) Oh, and the late actor Michael Jeter should have had more recognition. That motherfucker could ACT.

he is a great actor but can he really go somewhere, i mean he is great at small roles but he has never once played a big role.
