I saw it two days ago...It was amazing! I'd DEFINATELY see it again...my only complaint is that when they sang For The Benifit Of Mr. Kite...well...it sucked! But the rest of the movie was awesome!!
I have wanted to see it for so long but for some reason it's just coming to the movie theaters in naples and ft myers...
me and my father are seeing it monday-we're both like "across the universe. monday. we're seeing across the universe." we are SO excited, we're counting down the days. i had 2 friends tell me they cried their eyes out during it, and i'll do the same. heck, i cry watching the commercials! it's just....unexplainable. it looks so gorgeous, and moving. and with all the beatles references....well! that makes it ten times better!hehe.
I think the whole thing is a bastardization of some really amazing music. It's a big money film with little to no regard for the place where a lot of that music came from, and no regard to the film style that the Beatles themselves used. Plus, it's got Bono it, and that guy couldn't give a dollar to a homeless person without 15 camera crews present. Aside from the fact Bealtes music will now become "trendy", only the versions stuck in people's heads will be the ones from the damn film! EDIT: Plus a lot of those songs aren't even property of the remaining Beatles anymore... so in a way... it's a Michael Jackson film
In many ways you're right, floydianslip6. But...it certainly was entertaining and moving in many ways at the same time. They may have misrepresented the culture, but at the same time they still got a lot of good points across (the universe).
I hated it. I thought it was a disgrace to Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Ken Kesey, and the Beatles. I couldn't even watch the whole thing.
Okay. So I am a HUGE beatles fan. Always have been, so of course when I heard about this movie a year or so ago, I was interested. First off, I wish I could have known to have been an extra, but still can't go wrong with a movie where all the characters were named after Beatles songs. Then I saw the trailer and was so incredible moved I was so anxious for this movie to come out. Then I saw it. Wow. I was speechless but got so moved by the visuals and the life that were bought on through the Beatles songs. I thought it was amazing. Then I saw it again and just yesterday, saw it for the third time. It's an experience, really. If you were to look at it as an actual movie, yes you will be disappointed. But this was something completely different. I gotta say it was the movie experience I ever witnessed in a theater. I guess that explains me seeing it for three times. But overall, I'm buying it and I enjoy the different versions of the otherwise classic and sacred Beatles songs. =)
I absolutely LOVED it. I'm listening to the soundtrack right now. "I've Seen a Face" - where they were bowling was probably one of my favorite scenes.
That's kind of my point. Not to pick you out Jadis, there's nothing wrong with listening to the soundtrack... but like... it's the Beatles, man. Not Jim Sturgess. Help! was a tight album. It sounds phenominal on the Rubber Soul vinyl too... But instead... we get shit by Bono and Beck (I got nothing against Beck, by the by). :le sigh:
wow so the music in the movie is not by The Beatles, that sucks! I think I dont even want to see this movie anymore.
