The other day I went up to my friend's to pick up some bud, and he told me while walking down the street, he found a dime bag containing four gelatin capsules and he wanted me to see if I could find out what they were. They were clear, with a dark orange goop inside which dried to orange, slightly oily chunks and smelled faintly of star anice or root beer (it was hard for me to distinguish, but it was something like that). I assumed it was some MDxx that someone had dropped and melted in hot sun, so I decided to do an acetone wash on it. I did the wash exactly as specified, with 100% acetone, but out of around 275mgs, I ended up with about 35mgs of white powder, not including the stuff left on the inside of the capsules I didn't wash(maybe 5mgs). Now, this just seemed unbelievable, that four capsules contained over a quarter gram of 'molly' (I'm assuming), yet yielded just 35mgs of washed product. The only thing I did differently than I've read, was I used a coffee filter instead of a lab filter, but I can't imagine how that would make a difference. Is it possible that these caps only contained like 9mgs of MDxx each? Thanks in advance.
First of all was it anhydrous acetone? Normal acetone is no good. A wash can reduce the weight by allot but it sounds to me like you just lost some due to the wrong materials. Either that or it was some dirty molly. Did you test it before to confirm that was what you had? Your wasting your time washing such a small amount in my opinion. It's allot of trouble for very little pay off. Just the handling of it will cost you a little and your not working with much to start with.
It was 100% acetone, so I'm assuming that's anhydrous. And I know it was rather pointless to do it on such a small amount, but I really didn't want to consume that dirty looking stuff, so I figured it doesn't matter if I lost it because it was found anyway. Better safe than sorry. Also, I read there have apparently been caps going around that fit this description that apparently contain 5-MeO-DiPT, Lidocaine, MDMA, Procaine, and an unidentified compound; and another that contains Lidocaine, MDMA, Procaine, and TFMPP But don't think they'd have such a negligent dose of MDMA. But I guess it's done, so Ill probably keep this little bit around and maybe use it to mildly compliment a psychedelic or something.
You have to order anhydrous stuff from a chemical supplier. Acetone bought in a store will have water in it. Outside chemistry there is not much use for anhydrous stuff but it is legal to buy at least. It's a bitch to keep it free of water though.
Yeah, the more I think about it, the more undesirable it seems for some reason. I think this uncertainty would surely affect the experience, so it would probably be counter-productive to take it. It's now down the drain. Thanks for the replies guys.
