How do you feel about philosophy in academia? I'm a philosophy major and do indeed love it, but I feel as though being lectured on philosophy is paradoxical. I always want to do spontaneous things, make "authentic" choices, things which most modern philosophers teach, yet I am completely bounded down by school. It's quite frustrating.

Anyway, are there are philosophy majors or professors out there who share this sentiment?
