They look like they are off to a nice start. =D What a silly awkward stage though. Mine just passed through it. Keep the pics updating.

Just let them do their thing at this stage...they're gonna go through a lot of changes, and as they tighten up they'll probably round up again too :)

If the base of the section is a wide flat shape they could end up that way...although even if they do, you can palm-roll most of their length back into a rounded shape whilst damp. If the base of the section is approximately square or at least more-or-less even sided they'll stay round naturally. Palm-rolling your dreads when they're damp can get them very rounded either way I reckon.

I think you'll find as they tighten up you probably won't need to :)

hey raven.. if you palmroll when theyre damp and then sleep on them again, guess what, theyre ganna go flat =]

a few of my flatties are no longer flat, and i dont palmroll at all.. and yeah, they probably wont stay flat when they lock and mature etc =]

Your dreads look fine so far. They're doing what they're doing because that's what they're doing! :p

I'm three weeks in and I have some flat ones. I think the only way to work them is palm roll them, but as Smelly said, they may round out... (I don't know yet, I'm excited to see as well).

As for the ones sticking out... I only have a few like that now, although all of my head was like that when I first got them done. It just takes a bit of time for gravity to take hold I think... I thought I had the worst dreads in teh world cuz they all stuck out. :S Now, only three weeks later, I can see the worry was for nothing.

They flatten out because you sleep on them and they aren't dreadlocks yet, just backcombed hair. When it flattens out that's just the psuedolock compressing and tightening. All part of the process.

I would keep palmrolling though...again the "if you palmroll you will cause damage and they will just snap right off" is bullshit. I imagine if you bleach alot ....maybe they could do that...but just palmrolling...nope!
