Regarding censorship and free speech: By using this site you agree to the moderation of your posts. I am a moderator. I can moderate your posts, as you have agreed to have me do by using the site. I have not infringed on anyone's free speech. But I do retain the authority to comment on the value, tone, and content of your posts and I can deleted or alter what you post, or ban you if you violate the guidelines. As I can with anyone on this site. You continue to avoid personal attacks by lumping people into groups and then attacking those groups. I am not stupid. However, I have let you be as you are not breaking the letter of the guidelines. But don't think you're fooling anyone.
I respect your right to free speech. What is it that you moderate? And, if no personal attacks were made , why would you contact me? Do you really alter posts as previously mentioned? This "middleman" approach seems more like a filter to me. Incidently , there are far more ribald posters on this site than myself. Submitted with all due respect.
Maybe he really feels that way Meagain. On another note, I feel bad for the people who are not getting paid right now. But my sympathy is limited. I grew up in DC. I have been around for most of my life, and now many of my childhood friends include this demographic, gov't workers. For the most part they don't do shit. Everything is procedural, there is no positive growth no development, no 'loss prevention' consultants, no efficiency experts. For years now I've been noticing my friends from back home making facebook posts about all of their exotic vacations, or sitting at hookah bars in Crystal City at 2pm on a weekday. They drive BMWs and live in nice areas like Arlington. I've asked them before, what exactly do you do? Never got a good answer. The gov't is bloated, and obviously a libertarian is going to say that. But it should be undeniable to anyone that private markets can provide any service the gov't can, possibly short of defense, with more efficiency and for less money. How to get there from here? I don't know, considering millions upon millions are dependent on the gov't. From welfare recipients to gov't workers, to private market citizens attempting to navigate the red tape set up by bureaucrats, just in order to manage their own fate.
Yeah take it cereal it's the 18th one. Has the war stopped? Is oby still sending our $'s to egypped? They can't be hurting that bad. Actually, rates have gone down. Good time to sell a house.
Cory got it. Dismantel the fed and irs. BINGO !!!! What perfect timing. oby just came in handy for something after all.
Hey riptide, we are all 1st world citizens here! Why not answer my question in regards to your post? Are you not eager to sincerely elaborate your opinion? And what has the sovereignity of our nations has to do with this discussion? You started in this thread with involving 1st and 3rd world countries in the conversation yourself... but as soon as someone from another 1st world country asks why and how you excuse yourself by saying what do non-american citizens matter? Well you dragged them into it first Someone is taking the easy way out I see.
The only question I asked you about these 'slacker nations'. I put the question as a quote in above post just as the post of you I was reacting to (and your initial answer) all in chronological order, all for your convenience :cheers2:
Good question , thanks. Oh, any islamic nation. Perhaps someone could direct me to a list of positive contributions to society made by islamic nations. Please , assist me in becoming a citizen of the world. Funny , Isreal and palestine were left with pretty much the same climate , territory etc. To this day ,I don't think women are permitted to drive cars in islamic lands. Isreal has an infrastructure , a Constitution , even national health care. Are honor killings still being practiced in Palestine? Clit removal? Inbreeding? Murder of Coptic Christians? Perhaps now, you can answer my questions.
I am sorry, I still don't see how they are slacker nations. To be honest, when I see people mentioning 3rd world slacker nations that we (1st world) are 'gifting' I first think of certain african nations. Well I guess, that's why I asked right Any islamic nation huh? Do you mean with that every nation with a majority of muslims or only nations under sharia rule?
Please correct but I'm thinking that would be one in the same. Majority moslem=sharia. Britan , for example is not YET at a majority but damn close to sharia from what I can see. dearbornistan , MI. for example is majority islamic and also damn near sharia.
It is certainly not the same which is evident if we look objectively. Two examples are Marocco and Turkey. If you are sincerely interested I recommend you to indulge in it yourself before assuming things.
with the exception of scientific progress, because the private sector has it in their best interest to skew the results to favor their industry. with the exception of healthcare, because as you see now with forced capatalistic healthcare, we're spending more to pay the middleman. I think we should cut out insurance all together. with the exception of education, because pepsi co elementary school just sounds like a horrible fucking idea. with the exception of anything environmental, because industry doesn't give a fuck about the environment. The thing is, I don't really think the American government is doing any better than the private sector could. I do, however, think that government has the potential to do better than private industry. There is just far too much corruption and abuse in American government for single payer healthcare to even be an option, for our education system to ever receive proper funding or planning. We all know industry already sways our government regarding environmental legislation. Its just all kinds of fucked up
Yeah, but the corporations and government are really one entity. Government is nothing more than a tool of the corporations and banks to basically rule over the people, while sometimes throwing people for a loop by pretending that they're reigning those "evil corporations" in. They're not.
