The irony is that the people who have opposed Obamacare from the beginning, because they thought it would negatively affect the economy, are actually the people who're causing the major problems by shutting shit down. It's almost as if the republicans are purposely making their predictions come true, just so they can say "See? We told you this would happen". Fuckin idiots.
Well, I know I got hired for a job yesterday. Today the people at the office headquarters said they couldn't complete the paperwork/hire me officially because the name on my picture id (driver's license) and social security card don't exactly match. Since it is my original card, 57 years old, it has my maiden name. I knew I needed to get a replacement card...in the back of my mind, but NO other employer has ever had a problem using what I have...so I (stupidly) filed that task under put off forever. My pocketbook was stolen several years ago, with my current name ss card in it. I went to the Social Security office after the orientation fiasco and got the opportunity to tell the lady my problem/what I needed. She smiled, verified that my name with the Social Security Administration is the same as the name on my driver's license, and said I would "just need" to come back when she would be able to help me...yes she HATED it I couldn't start this job; so, come back now - ya' heah?! But she couldn't replace my card because the federal government is shut down. Without going into the whys and wherefores of political posturing and positioning...this shut-down is real...and it is Not Helping Anything. The healthcare changes are going along as planned. I just can't grasp what point these jackasses think they are making/going to make in refusing to negotitate and maintaining this shut down. Before today I had only heard that replacement Social Security cards could not be issued...I can now state, for a fact, you can't get a card, in SC anyway. All of that is as real as it can be, in fact...it's a little too real for me right now.
Yeah, well its not working because a poll was taken and 93% of the respondents said they’re not affected by the government shutdown Locally the Portsmouth Naval shipyard will furlough some civilian contractors, the USS Constitution will be closed along with the Bunker Hill Monument, The JFK Library, The Minute Man National Historic Park, and 95% of the employees in the White Mountain National Forest - no loss Hotwater
Yes, that is exactly right...in a nutshell. The workers that actually perform services to help us, the common man with our common needs, are the ones being affected by this inane action. Then its us, common people, that are also and ultimately affected, especially when the govt can't give us (information) that we need in order to support ourselves. Congress continues to pay itself, so shutting up office most assuredly isn't a sticking point for them. :ack2: I'm not going to get started on this...I feel my blood pressure going up. lol
They all get back pay anyway. We as taxpayers are still carrying them on our payroll. Let's be real clear about that. Now , what if anything is getting shut down? Just because the little man in the booth is gone does not mean the park is closed. What do the occupants of the booths offer than just a hand out? How appropriate.
I know people that have no idea there is a government shut down.. Y ?Because they see the mailman and the police car.. In the words of my unfellow Americans.. as long as I still get my unemployment, disability checks, welfare, food stamps.. I dont care what the government does..
knock-on effect of the CDC being unable to monitor the flu virus right at the start of the flu season might be a bit of a pisser down the line, particularly for the elderly.
I take everybody's points seriously, but surely a slowdown in scientific progress for a few weeks can only be a good thing,so all us boneheads can try somehow to catch up with what these mono-brains are actually getting up to...I mean don't we already have enough technology and medicine to coat the world in goo for a thousand years.
As an outside observer, and yes I do watch the news,I don't believe the US government shutdown is a carefully orchestrated exercise in miss-direction.Although both parties in effect dance to the same tune, that is corporate business interests,I get the feeling a lot of Democrats and Republicans really dislike each other.
Sure, but a lot of politicians are just as blind as anyone else. They believe in the broken system in which they are operating. None are so hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free.. These are ominous times we live in. I hope I'm just overly paranoid and everything turns out just fine, and we can all live happy lives, take care of our children and pass them down a world worth living in. But it is obvious that for that to happen, things need to change dramatically, quickly, globally.
Down with the puppetry fake government-backed fiat economy. Time is here for a new revolution, one that decentralizes government and currency.
it will take time get out of our national debt...idk why people think it can be done in a period of a few months..
I don't think they dislike each other at all, at least not in terms of being on supposedly opposite sides. If politicians hate one another, it's regardless of which party they belong to. Many have been seen partying with each other when the cameras aren't around. The notion of the two parties being at each others throats is an act, IMO. Most of these corrupt politicians are simply out for themselves. There is nobody who has achieved any level of prominence in politics who actually gives a shit about the people they supposedly represent. These people are corporate businessmen, and are paid well NOT to serve in the public's best interests.
Sometimes the way you type seems to convey you are talking down to everyone else. Like no one else could possibly figure these things out and you have all the answers and need to tell everyone. It would be interesting if you would back up your nice little two paragraphs with some facts or actual details--- the reason I say this is... those that agree with you, already know all this. And those that don't- well, they're not gonna learn anything or have anything to think about based on your usual rhetoric with no real details to back it up.
Point taken, but I don't really care about convincing people of anything. Plus, the way I type is just that. I'm not going to change out of fear of offending someone. There are no facts or details to present. Either you see what's going on, or you don't.
Glad you weren't offended by what I said. Yeah, you just remind me- in your tone- of someone teaching a class of 2nd graders. In any case, you are right though in your second paragraph and I'll try to just keep in mind you are not trying to talk down to anyone (like they don't already know that)... I do think you are right and it's just your style of typing. Anyways.... :leaving:
On the lighter side, CNN has given up on its worn-out countdown clock of the supposed upcoming U.S. bombing of Syria and replaced it with the exciting new count-up clock showing the days, hours, minutes, and seconds since the federal government shutdown began.
it wont take time, time wont work with national debt.. its best to start the clock over, erase the federal reserve.. if we don't erase the fed, we slowly erase our lives.
