You were too quick to assume that about me. If I was in that situation, I would have the child and give it up for adoption. The only way that I would have an abortion is if I was raped, especially by a family member. Now I am going to come to the part where I think you are misunderstanding me, which is that I support the rights of others to make their own choices. Just because I made that decision does not mean that everyone else must. They may feel differently than I do, and who am I to judge them and tell them what to do with their bodies? That is why I am prochoice. Where exactly did I say anything that was hypocritical? I am missing that. I never said that all children who grow up in foster homes have terrible lives. In fact, I said that adoption is great. I was pointing out that there are a lot of bad situations with adoption, and it is not as perfect as everyone on this thread is making it out to be. I can say this because I know a lot of people who have been through it.

To be honest, I do not see my views about this particular subject changing in the future at all. I will be wiser and have much more knowledge, but opinions that I feel so strongly about will not change. Again, you are not much older than myself. You are only soon-to-be 20, so you can not say much about my age that isn't also true for yourself. What about Miss Beatle who is 16? I guess only people who do not agree with you are the ones who are too young to post their opinions.

You don't know me that well.
I'm not fond of babies, but that doesn't mean I only care about myself.

I'd rather take my time/money on my husband, friends, and kitty (who's my one and only baby!)
I rather spend my life traveling, mountain climbing, scuba diving...anything adventurous and exciting.
I'm sorry I don't care about procreating, it's not for everyone. not me anyways. or my brother for that case.
I don't plan to live in the same house for years and raise some brats...get fat..and watch american idol...

It's my body, if I don't wanna pop out some kids...I don't have to.

Yup. My wife and I aren't having kids. It's selfish to bring a child into a world this fcked up. The earth is about ready to recycle itself. The baby's that others bring into this world will die an unnatural death or at least their kids will. Just say no to kids!

That's sad. I believe in choice for a woman. But to be so skeptical that you and your spouse see the future so bleakly that you don't even wish to think that your offspring might envision or possibly lead to a change is really saying something for the state of the world. I am truly sorry for you. But I respect your decision, and hope that when you have passed your reproductive years you still feel that way.

Okay, let' see what you wrote:

Okay, okay, I can envision you as an old lady with a house full of cats, kinda creepy to me but whatever, your life.

Hey I love travelling and athletics, but since when can you not do those things when you have children? Do you assume you're going to marry a guy who won't be able to provide for a family? You aren't married yet ( that is if you ARE living in the States ).

This will prove to be the end of many 1st World Nations, Japan, Germany, U.S. ( Caucasian, already a majority of your population is Latino ). Your choice but there was a time.[IMG]

Well, you do live in the States so there's a high chance that will happen, HOWEVER, who says you have to keep living on this continent? Move to Australia for example.

Yes I know, Liberalism has a monopoly on America, I get it, fine, whatever.

i am not for abortions but i think it should be the womans choice.

if an incident occurred....like if she was raped....would you want to have a sexual predators baby? I think that is 100% the womans choice. Alot of mistakes happen, some that the woman can't always control and the choice to have a baby is her own choice.

When you have kids, they need a stable environment...
You can't go around traveling, switching jobs, and doing random things because you need to support them. (at least if you want to be a good parent)
Not to mention, kids cost money. and time.
I don't want to spend my husband's and my youth on raising babies, socccer practice, proms, etc..
When do you really get to go to italy or skydive?
Plus, if you wanted both you'd have to really worry about money..and I don't feel that's the way I want to live my life.
It's a nice thought to have both, but it's not so simple.

But you admit you are selfish yes?

I do too, all of humanity is selfish, even those who help others can be seen as selfish as they are only helping others to make them feel sound and wholesome.

See this is why I don't support abortion because people on this continent use " it's a woman's choice " to negate the fact that they are themselves selfish.

I prefer my idealistic life over a kid. yes.
I don't think that makes me selfish.

Though we all are somewhat self-centered...
I don't think I am any more selfish than the average person.

You'd think differently about abortion if you were a woman.
The thought that one little sperm and egg can change the whole course of your life would change your opinion.
Having a baby is a very big deal, I don't think you understand that.
Not to mention, that it's a big responsibility you'll have for eighteen years.
It's great that women have a choice now.

i feel for the most part that it is a womans choice. but since you cant really have a child without a guy, i would hope that in a loving relationship both partners have a say in it.

It really shouldn't be, it's just another part of life, a wedding should be a big deal, but the Western World kinda destroyed that by divorce.

Yeah, you don't have to carry around the baby for months..and then go through painful labor...then take care of it.
Lets face it, women do most of the work when it comes to having a kid and raising it...so of course its not that hard on a guy.

If you want to raise a child right, then it better be a big deal and a huge part of your life. They're not just something you get because they're "another part of life."
I babysit a 4 month old baby everyday after school for my neighbor downstairs...don't you tell me kids are not a big deal.
If anything, having a kid is the only big decision in your life.

Marriages only worked before because people were stuck in them.
That and people didn't live as long back in the day.
    Divorce makes sense.
If you're not happy then you're not happy.
Why would you force people to be with each other?
Maybe it's cause I'm not god-fearing...or maybe because of logic...but for some reason I think people should always have options.

Yeah both partners should have a say.
But if the girl doesn't want it then you shouldn't be able to force her.
I'm talking more about when the pregnancy is unexpected and unwanted.

And I also don't think guys should have to pay child support if they never wanted the baby in the first place, but the girl decided to keep it.
It's not fair that a girl can escape that situation but a guy can't.

That is why in many parts of the world, men are brought up to worship women, as in, provide for the household and kiss the feet of the wife.

What's wrong with that? I'm not talking about this equality crap where both spouses work, I want to become a lawyer, a good lawyer so I will be able to provide for my family without having my wife work, I wouldn't mind if my wife spent her time with her friends or doing what she loved, cause women are the barers of humanity.

Maybe I'm old fasioned, but is that a negative? I don't think so but that's me talking.

I don't want to go back to the old days here...men work, women raise children...

...and I think worship is the wrong word there!

A woman should always be able to support herself in case her husband dies or leaves...
Which both have happened to my mom and she had nothing to fall back upon...cause she's an idiot...

I hate the thought of a woman being completely dependent on a man...that's just stupid. Life isn't perfect and sometimes things don't go as planned.

I really don't know what kind of world you live in...but it must be nice.
