For anyone to say that abstinence is the only acceptable means of birth control is denying human nature and living a lie. Only in a perfect world might this be an option, and even there I have my doubts! I find the stance against birth control which catholics and a number of other churches preach to be absolutely ludicrous. I believe that many of the sexual taboos inflicted upon society have resulted in much of the sexual dysfunction that prevails today.

FTR, something to remember is that there was a country which in 1971-I believe-passed a law prohibiting abortion and birth control. As you can very well imagine, this resulted in orphanages being filled way beyond capacity, under horrendous conditions. Moreover, with the prevalence of tyranny and the country's economy in severe dire straits by 1989, a revolution fomented and the president along with his wife were executed! The country was communist Romania, and Nicolae Ceausescu was the president!

I personally do not feel the government should outlaw anything a woman can do to her own body. This goes along with my anti-prohibition stance, too....

 

People who want to make abortion illegal want to force their religious and/or moral beliefs on others. I think its nastier to kill a chicken or cow than it is to kill an unborn baby.

The baby is not yet born, it feels no pain (infact, I'd say most babies, except for a few incredibly gifted people, more so than I, can't remember feeling any pain as a baby, take circumcision for example). It may be viewd as a loss for society, but we have enough people, with more on the way, so its not a loss really. Thats like saying its a loss for every second people aren't fucking and having kids because the kids aren't being born.

If you don't want women to have abortions, talk to them. Lets see if they agree with your position on it.

Women who get abortions because they are worried about their figure or don't want to take care of a baby shouldn't be having children anyway, because they are either too selfish, or too busy and wouldn't make good mothers.

In my opinion, its fine for women to have abortions if they can't afford the baby. Why bring a child into the world if you can't take care of it, if you can't give it a decent life?

To the girl who said she'd fight the guy who tried to rape her... most girls are raped by their boyfriends, or guys they know. Most are raped while they are under the influence of drugs or alchohol, and some are raped by multiple guys. In most rapes, the girls can't do anything. You can't blame them for getting raped.

Women who get raped should have abortions because the guys who raped them are worthless human beings and don't deserve to be fathers. The only thing rapists deserve is to be curved. Seriously, rapists are the stupidest people in the world, followed by smokers. They take advantage of somebody and create a baby because they are too stupid to get rid of their urge with their hand and some lotion, or pay a prostitute, I don't care.

I think minors who get pregnant should have to have their parents consent to get an abortion. If a 13 year old gets pregnant, its her parents who should decide if she should be able to stop it, because they are the ones who are going to be taking care of it. The girl might not be able to go to college, or atleast not right away, so you could call that oppression, but girls have babies, its a fact of life.

I had a friend who was raped. She told me that once he had broken her jaw knocking her down she was willing for him to do most anything to get it over with and maybe go away without killing her. So I thank that people who say women should always fight must have never been hurt very bad. I know that if subjected to enough pain that I would do anything. That is why the Army teaches you that no one can stand up under interrogation. The only thing they teach you do is to try to delay things until the information you have is "overtaken by events" that is, too stale to be any good. That is also the basis for the need to know rules.

That of birth control or of changed commitments. But all a law is going to do is prevent poor women from having safe abortions. Have what ever view you want and take what ever action you think is right but do not make abortion just another thing that you can have if you are rich

I'm not saying i'm against it, not at all. I just hate how pro choicers always call people religious nuts who try to impose their religion on them when the topic of abortion comes up. That's just a way to stifle the conversation.

How do know the parents will do this when the girl gets pregnant? Are we going to do a pysch screening on every couple before they can have a kid?
