RE: I hope you weren't directing that at me

Unless I mention someone by name, nothing I say is directed at anyone.

There's only one person here who I dislike intensely and will disrespect, and I mentioned her by name in the past.

Unless your small town refuses to give anyone access to it.

True, but that's even becoming an issue. And there are a lot of people who are against that as well. A lot of people think of it no differently than abortion.

There's been a lot of shit circulating around the morning after pill, I'm actually pretty worried it WILL become illegal in the future...near future.

But, if it's available, I do agree with you. I've had to use that before. But, pregnancy isn't the first thing that crosses a woman's mind after she's been raped. Trust me.

Edit to say: Because the morning after pill is such a big issue, a lot of girls dont even know it exists... also aside from that, you're often strongly urged to "re-think your decision", attempting to sway you against it.

When I had to go into Planned Parenthood for it, I literally got YELLED at. Of course I could have explained my situation to avoid that, but like I really wanted to talk about it so soon after it happened...no way.

adoption, condoms, the pill, the patch, the "ring", sponge, shots, diaphram, abstinence (not my cup of tea but w/e)....

and if it's from rape or incest: ru482

Except for life and death situations for the mother, why are abortions needed again?

    somebody remind me.

I'm not religious, so i'm not judging or w/e, but is it really nessesary?

I thought almost all trauma centers offer them now to rape victims.

To rape victims maybe, but I didn't go in there saying I was a rape victim. I'd rather not get into it..........................

And, I still got the pill so, that wasn't the point.

Like I said... in my personal opinion, I can't always understand why people do it, but, if it weren't legal, it would just be back to coat hangers and quack doctors.

People aren't going to change, and stop being careless just because all those things are available, or even if abortion were outlawed. You make perfect sense, you do, but you just can't change the way people really are. You know?

Also, by the way, there still is, a small possiblity of getting pregnant using ANY of those things.

The only 100% positive way you won't get pregnant is abstaining but SERIOUSLY... how many people even consider that.

I don't know about you, but I'd never even consider abstinence haha.

Edit to say: if you're raped, or a condom breaks, the morning after pill can be an option [which, even that can fail on a rare chance] But if you're taking birth control and things like that, you don't know whether or not you're going to get pregnant--you can't just be like "well, I think this time, the pill might have failed, so I have to go get the day after pill!!!". That is, unless you're extra careful and choose to use a condom along with birth control [which, a lot of people DO do]

    So let them.

It's ignorant to think there' is no other way, and in the U.S.A in 2005 there's no excuse for that kind of ignorance.

So use more than one way.

    Condoms and the pill.

    Shot and the patch.

    Pill and the patch...

Abortion just seem a little to extreme to use as birth control.

Like smaking a fly with a hollow point bullet.

    People should be more responsible.

    I guess...

I don't think abortion is something you can really judge unless you're put in a desperate situation like some women are.

And, I'm sorry but I hate it when people say "adoption" especially when men say it... because even though, I myself haven't experience pregnancy, I think it's very naive to think that, a woman who carried a baby in her womb for 9 months would find it so easy to just give the baby up for adoption.

And, seriously how fucked up is that for the kid? Some kids may handle well, but others will be seriously traumatized knowing their mother "didn't want them"

Let me ask you something... because, they ARE trying to do this... if a pill for a MAN comes out on market, would you take it?

    Seriously, would you?

It's easy to say when you aren't the one who has to be injesting a pill into your body everyday, or getting a shot every few months that can cause weight gain amongst other side affects.

I refuse to take a pill, or get a shot, or anything that fucks with my hormones like that. Condoms, okay. Diaphragms, and other non-side affect causing things, okay.

But I hate how some people think it should basically be given for a woman who doesn't want kids to go on the pill. Sometimes, it's not that simple. Especially when you're a complete naturalist the way I am. Anything that fucks with my hormones like that, I don't trust.

I also got very very sick and nauceas everyday for five fucking months when I DID try the pill.

Maybe I'm selfish, but I put my body before a "potential child"

    1. If after only nine months she wouldn't want to give up th child then maybe the abortion wasn't such a good idea aftr all...

    2. Traumatized kid? What mom tells their kid they wanted them aborted but wasn't allowed? And if we're talking about kids that have been adopted I don't think that the ones who find out they were adopted regret living with the two adults that wanted them so bad that they adopted in the first place.

so what, abort the child to spare them any abandoment issues?

You have your own priorities, that's fine.

But there are other ways still such as (as you mentioned) condoms, diaphragms. also there the "natural methods" such as the male pulling out in time (if you trust him that much go ahead) or refraining from sexual activity until you're least fertile.

I guess it's more a matter of convenience for some.

Well then your argument is completely valid in my perspective.

I don't agree with guys though, who share the same idea as you, but wouldn't go through something like that if it came down to it. You know what I'm saying?

My boyfriend, for example, told me straight out he'd never consider it. It makes me a little angry, that he too, doesn't want children, but I'm the only one expected to take care of preventing that.

I think couples, especially, should be willing to work with each other and give a little, but it's really too bad, when the woman is expected to do all the work and worry about that kind of thing.
