Ran across this site: http://freeenergynews.com/Directory/Theory/SustainableOil/ a while back and thought it pretty interesting. The claim is that oil reserves derived from hydrocarbons are being constantly replenished by the Earth, instead of deriving from fossils fuels as originally thought. Any thoughts?
God I hope not. Because the way things are going, if the shit doesn't flat run out or become prohibitively expensive we'll probably never develop viable 'green energy' alternatives.
Yes, no, & maybe. You're mixing two different issues together. Yes oil is a hydrocarbon. Yes oil replaces itself. But, is it abiotic? I am not so sure that it is.
Not much different than Pyrolytic Oil minus the extra "impurities" that get processed into fertilizers and other crap. Luckily more folks are catching on to the idea of just Pyrolyzing Biomass, making Biochar (more farmland) AND Fuel at the same time. This way we get to continue running our Cars while at the same time putting a larger portion of the CO2 working it's way through the Atmospheric cycle back under our feet in solid form where it will grow food or more fuel feedstock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPJKL7pWDnM
