i droped out the chem school in 2nd semester. i know just a little bit about chemistry. i read the Bright Star's MDMA Synthesis for the First Time Chemist. i understand every step but i have problem to using the vacuum distillation. 1-) is the water aspirator able to get enough pressure for the safrole destillation? bright star says its ok but someones say that i need to buy a better vacuum source 2-) i have some issues to setting up the distillation. how can i set up the condenser? there is "water in" "water out" places in the diagrams( like this http://www.erowid.org/archive/rhodium/chemistry/pictures/sdist.setup.gif ). but what this exactly means? should i just attach "water in" to tap water? 3-) also, i know i cant get pure mdma, but what will be the average percent of purity? btw sorry for my poor english.

Try the Wacker method if Bright Star fails. https://www.erowid.org/archive/rhodium/chemistry/wacker.krv.html I have heard this is the easiest way to do it. You can have pure MDMA if you do the final acetone wash step which will clean the synthases impurities from it and your a skilled enough chemist. Acetone will mean you will loose weight from your MDMA. This is it is not always done. Your acetone MUST be anhydros (no water). If you use acetone with water the MDMA will absorb into it and you will loose most if not all of your product. The technical purity will be 84% because that is how the chemical forms into a salt the other 16% is taken up by hydrogen chloride that is needed to form the chemical structure of the salt. At 100% it would be an oil. So the 84 number is often thrown around. The sassafras oil that you will probably get your hands on is not as pure as it could be. It is more trouble then and money it is worth to purify it. So sassafras is the main limiting factor in your purity. If you had clean sassafras you could have 99% pure MDMA. But with what you will likely find on the black market you may have impurities. These will be different impurities which acetone can not remove as far as I know. I would not use normal tap water for this. It may have chemicals such as fluoride in it which will interfere with the MDMA synthases. It might no matter but in my amateur opinion don't do it. I would use filtered water.
yes, and another hose for water out leading to a drain or something. or you could use a bucket or something with ice to keep the water cold and a pump to recirculate the same water. i've never done anything on that level cuz i don't have a liebig condenser but chemistry is fascinating to me, especially the making of certain molecules
