This is what I do to my dreads sometimes. You might be able to tell that I have to use bobby pins because if not they'll just start falling out. My dreads just keep getting shorter... very soon I won't be able to do this anymore.

mine are just so heavy no mastter how i tie em they eventualy fall
only twice did i ever manage to get em to stay tied, ..with help..lol
when songbird wove em (really tightly mind yiu) into like a sorta hat thing
and when..oh damn whats her name now damn, a freinds sister..shes a freind too, really sweet awesome gorl just blsanked on hrr name well when she wove em into a really tight crown

but both times they had some dreads pulling lil too much and they made my head feel all wobbly (not cause they wobbled..they weee very tight, just the weight and ballance thing felt off)

oh and when they had em akll tied up like that was very very dificult to figure out how to untie em, at one point had both arms hopelessly tangled in it and was just trying to free my arms before the weight made me topple over..lol

anymore i dont tie em up to do a do (do a do sounds funny)
but more just for temerature control.
down to stay warm, up to cool off
so dont usualy care how it looks
is mostly just for functional purposes

Couldn't you rig up a basket on the back of your wheelchair to sit your dreads in?
