Thank you! I actually wasn't even going to mention that it was my birthday but I was kind of excited about what my wife bought me and wanted to tell someone. It would be kind of hard to mention birthday presents without mentioning my birthday. :)

Sorry Aeri. It seems the older I get the more I feel the cold and damp in my bones. We will be getting up to the 60's this coming week. Truth is that I have to stay in this weather because I just can't take the heat and humidity of the summers in other climates.

Grace (dog) and I saw a skunk like that at the park earlier this week. We kept our distance.

I had a cool chat with a vicar about sexuality and the church this morning.
    Was refreshing.

Here's another opinion from my son. I think I'm happy with how he was raised but at the same time....I don't know if this world view makes your life any better.

I don't live in the past,
But I do make a point of visiting
For the sake of re-living it indirectly.
I want to see what things have
    changed since then.
So I'll speak from the present tense,
and hold the image of cleanliness
up for comparison to the mess
    we so comfortably live in.
We'll see if we've been given
    anything different yet.
    We don't like to talk
    about oppression.
    We don't want to believe
    in our leaders' obsessions
    with maintaining power.
The lesson here is one we learned
in history classes from the time
    that we were eleven.
What was it that brought us out of
    the Great Depression?
    I'll wait.
If you really remember the answer
    you're either senile or
    still in the seventh grade,
    because we forget things.
    Don't we?
History is taught as if to say
that we were the good guys
    in the stories,
    and the villians were
    all but ordinary,
    because the things they did
    were horrific.
    Glory is our our territory
    to occupy.
    We've earned it, right?
    Maybe not quite.
The answer, by the way is war.
    Creation of corporate profit
from sacrifices of the marine corps,
army, navy and drafted, unlucky hordes.
    Thousands of volunteers
sent off to die in an ugly war.
    What did they die for?
    Your freedom? Your liberty?
    Your rights?
No. They died so that those
with wealth could have some more.
And it's been like that more and more
    as the decades passed.
We have the tip of the sword
to our backs and don't even ask
    what were being prodded toward.
    We've read our text books,
but who can say they've read 1984?
Who's picked up some Thomas More
    and seen Utopia?
    Thoreau and other naturalists
    fucking strewn across the floor,
    collecting dust.
    The ideas contained, untouched.
    We probably all read Bradbury
in school, but it's all to clear
    we didn't retain much,
because we're living with the same
kind of shit about which he warned us.
    We don't even exist.
    We're actually born dust
and we're stirred up on occasion
when people make it tough for us
    And challenge our ideas.
A lot of things have happened
    on this Earthen crust,
    but conquest has definitely
    been always continuous.
Look at Nazi Germany in that
Second World War that we won.
Then take a look at us.
Do you still trust your government
    despite its obvious breaking
    of the worlds trust?
    This goes for everyone.
It starts with an act against us,
    like a parliament building burning
    or two great towers collapsed,
    then they blame someone.
    They say its foreign hate,
    so hate what's foreign
and don't dare cry for them
when they all run for cover.
    A system of manipulation
    is set in place,
    and hidden under that
    is Big Brother doing what
    he does best:
    stepping on other human faces
    to stand above the rest.
And we stand in his defense
    and support his conquest.
    Perpetuating death and
    bringing pestilence.
    Imperialist ideas masquerade
    here as patriotism,
and anything less is left out
    of the discussion
    like opposition doesn't exist.
You're not a human being if this
    doesn't make you fucking sick.
    And if you don't know
    where you stand,
it's time to get off the fence,
because if you take too long
they will push you over to my side,
and you will land with a broken neck
    and never stand again.
You'll be labeled a conspiracy theorist
and your opinions will be discredited.
The world will be led and led again
in the same way that you're set against.
    Our history classes
    never dared say this,
    but we have treated death
    as though it is justified
    by progress.
We have all been told we're
getting closer and closer to flawless,
but we are led by the same
    dishonest, lawless, flawed and
    void-of-logic fucking dogs
    that chewed on Jewish necks
    in the 1940's.
Guess again if you guessed that
we're better than they were then.
    What's perpetuated doesn't end
until we are all each other's friends.
There is no good guy in the story,
we are all covered head to toe
in the blood of the people
that have died for national glory.
    Again and again, we will
    re-write our textbooks to say
    the same things about now
    that were said about then.
Or we will refuse their decisions
and string the system up by its neck.
Or we will be left for dead,
because they don't care about us.
in the end we're only a source of
    wealth for them.

No matter how far the fielders backed up--I could hit a softball over their heads and usually did. Brag-brag.

I was on the all-star baseball team for a few years when I was growing up. Shortstop, left field and catcher. I could throw a lazer to throw out runners but couldn't pitch to save my life. I hated playing pitcher.

Had to go look at some work for another company today. You know it's going to be a shit show if they have to call me to do it for them. I guess it's better for them to be safe than sorry though.
