I've decided to drop any specific label of what my religion/faith is, recently. I was Catholic-Christian before, but I felt as though there was more, and it felt like I was being limited (for example, I was asking myself and the preacher and the bible if the bible allowed me to do everything, but then I stumbled upon a Buddhist quote about doing what you felt was right, not what a book says). So now, since I've started studying other religions like Wicca, Buddhism, and Aboriginal/Native faiths, I feel more free and like I've become closer to God. I still believe in and love God/Jesus with my entire heart, soul, and being. My beliefs are mostly Catholic/Christian-based, though many come from other religions that are based on love, forgiveness, and bringing peace to others, and also nature-based religions. Wow, thought I should share that, it ended up being really long
I know what you are talking about. I have grown up Catholic/Christian and though most of my beliefs have come from that religion...I have also learned from many others, mainly Hinduism from the Hare Krishna point of view, and I have to say that in the long run it has brought me closer to God, made me happier, and has helped me re-examine my values... ...and it helped me re-affirm a lot of my conclusion that most religions are the same...the differences depend mostly on human culture...in the end it is a Supreme being of sorts whether you give Him a personality (such as Krishna being the Supreme Personality of Godhead) or worship him as an impersonal Brahma (such as a spirit of nature or just the invisible being in the sky)...
