Hey Steve, the question was if you could go back in time to age 18 and ask yourself a question, what would it be? What have you learned from assholes ?.............that's a great question to ask yourself at age 18. I'm sure there are at least some online 18 year olds nowadays who have learned a lot more about all kinds of people than someone in their 50s now. What do ya think? peace Honor
It's not possible for an 18 yr old to know more about life then a 50 yr old. Unless the 50 yr old lived in a cave all their life. I know youngers like to think they know more but when ya get right down to the real nitty gritty, you will find the opposet.
I'd tell myself if I were 18 again that the ' Angels didn't know as much as they thought they did about fighting. We had the monopoly on peace!
k miss heifer... teach me something I don't know... How about humility ? While I'm sure you know all the answers...what you don't know is all the questions.
the difference between 18 and 50 is that at 50 there's many things i realize that i don't know,at 18 i knew it all.The internet is facts,life is knowledge.Something that's beyond words.All 50 year olds were once 18,no 18 year old has ever been 50.Don't worry though,if you're lucky you'll get there.Then you'll know that you didn't really know.
The complete lack of humility in your reply proves my point better than any words I could post in reply. I do understand and appreciate, young man, that the rate of learning has increased dramatically as each generation has passed. Your generation has to assimilate a much larger database to be a functional member of society. My point was not the size of your database versus SH's, my point was the way you assimilate that knowledge into your interpersonal relationships. Those lessons are taught by age and experience.
i've always believed that newborns had total knowledge,it's just a matter of sorting it all out. That takes some people more time than others.Someone who is wise at 18 usually will be wiser at 50 though possibly a bit jaded.Thats a big reason i'm here. Not to regain my wasted youth but to refresh my mind. You don't get new ideas from us old fucks. You get tried and true ideas but the new ones have to come from you young smartasses and i mean that in the most flattering way.Somewhere there's a 5 year old out there with the answer to world peace.Apparently we've yet to find that answer.
gate68 has a point. I used to take offense at the young guys posts. I thought they were condescending and rude. (sure, some of them are..admit it) But, I actually started reading them and looking at the underlying meaning. I was impressed by the maturity and wisdom of many of them. (and the wit) I learn a lot from these young guys, since I left my middle-aged ego "at the door".
Jester, many of the important things in life must be experienced. For example, all the reading, learning, viewing the internet will never teach someone what love (if I remember your other posts correctly, you don't quite believe in love) or orgasm is like. Experience is the only path to that knowlege. Another example, the knowlege of physics, optics, meteorology will never let a blind person see a rainbow. Or understand why it is beautiful. On the other hand an ignorant sighted person gets it immediatly.
I would also tell myself if I was 18 again that i should have learned Spanish while I spent some time living right there in el barrio (alphabet city on the lower east side of Manhatten). Today, Jo no sais nadda!
Experience may or not lead to a better person. A person's goodness can only be judged by their actions. An experienced person knows more (of those kinds of learning) than the inexperienced. Keep adding experiences, or die trying!
I can only relate my own experience as a learning tool. I have found in my own experience that knowledge is the Key to Awareness/Enlightenment. It's a process that takes time to develope. There are many many exceptionly smart young people out there in the world, but maturity opens other windows and stages of growth. I did not comprehend fully how it would be to have children and raise them,, but I slowly developed into a fairly good mother and even a better grand mother through the experience of raising 6 kids. When I was 20 I never dreamed of being able to restone a fireplace, but when I turned 50, I just got up and said I was going to do it, and went and got the stuff to do it with and then finished it. It came out perfect. I couldn't have done as good if I had been twenty. I had not yet gained enough wisdom to start a project like that back then. I appericate the young minds of today. We evolve every generation. We grow as a species as each generation passes. Each tried and true experiences melded with the new and upcoming, creates a learning and teaching enviroment that compliments both sides of the coin. sh Brightest Blessings Rap.
Jester, what you are saying right now is just showing your lack of maturity. If you find nothing of meaning in my words, it's not a problem of mine. You can take it or leave it. It may help someone else down the road. It's all a matter of what level of conscienceness your on, or what your looking for. Not everyone is going to agree with what works in my live, I don't hold it against you for your opinion, your intitled to it. I can only speak from what I know from what I have lived, and LIVING is where you gain your awareness and enlightenment from not the internet. That is just imformation, not living it. Reading about it is like eating a fat juicy plum and not getting to taste it. What ever you say to me in the way you are speaking to me just tells me you are not ready to learn Brightest Blessings sh
Is there a certain of year people stop being so sensitive to others putting them down, and like focus more on getting detailed on stuff like fixing a fireplace? Expound please. peace honor
shameless heifer, I have to disagree with you about something you are saying. It's no biggie though. I think reading and the internet "are" part of living. Granted there may be some who believe that there are better ways to live than spending one's time on the internet or reading, but then who is to say which way of living is better than another. I could not have said what I just said when I was 18.
I'd spend more time brushing my teeth. Man, it really sucks to have a perpetual toothache! Oh yeah, I'd buy land. Somewhere me and my friends could grow a garden and live in peace without being hassled all the time!
When you get to Germany and she offers again, go ahead and screw her on the pool table like she wanted. And when you get back to Greece, the police won't be watching B's house like they were suppose to, so you can relax more and enjoy the sex better! The security agents weren't there that night either, and her Mom never knew you were there all night. And yes, you looked funny in your underwear on the veranda.
