It was maybe a 1.5 inch hole in the carpet...not mass destruction. And I won't be responding any more to the fine lady who craves more attention than my dog does.
They look like great companions to me, Oddy! Perhaps a little mischievous look in the eyes, but my dog has that too and I would not like to picture him without it anyway
Yup. They're best buddies. He is super aggressive to other male dogs (no idea why) but the little dog is a female and he tolerates almost anything she throws at him. I brought her home when she was 1.25 lbs. and she's been bossing him around ever since. Even when he's eating...she can walk right up under his head and eat from his food bowl and he won't even react. She has different barks for different things she wants him to do and he will do what she wants almost every time. She can sometimes be pretty ornery to him but he takes it all in stride.
Excellent way to describe them. She thinks she's pretty tough and she tries to chase animals outside. A squirrel could probably hurt her if it wanted to but she knows that he is only about one bark and 3 seconds away from her. So we always joke around about her talking all kinds of trash but having him to back her up.
Golden Retrievers are notoriously great family dogs. Very very very patient, but mischievous too like all dogs.
I have 4 dogs, two of them lick obsessively. In one case, she does it when she is nervous, or bored because she is under exercised. It seems to soothe her. The other one does it when he comes in from the cold. He is a boxer and seems to have sensitive paws, and when they thaw he just licks and licks and licks and licks...
We have to really watch our little dog when she goes outside in the cold. Her paws get too cold and she won't move or come back to the house. But normally she runs outside, does her thing and runs right back in to get warm. But now that you mentioned this....I do remember our big dog licking his front paws on the carpet where the hole is...not long before we discovered the hole. It was possibly even the exact same spot.
