That's What I Say About My 6 Cats, It's Their House But I'm Allowed To Live Here As Long As I Pay The Power, Rates, And Food Bills.... Cheers Glen.
I would never leave my dog outside. Not even in the garage. It's way too cold. This is his house. He has taken it over. Sometimes he even lets us sit on the furniture.
Well you act like he's a human and part owner. He's destroying your house for Christ sake. Whats the issue? Train your pet.
Major Overeaction, All The Dog Did Was Make A Small Hole In The Carpet, Could Hardly Be Described As Destroying The House... Cheers Glen.
my sister brought our dog one of those fillable toys. He wants nothing to with it. I agree with Ruby here though. If he's old it's a little strange for him to be doing this- because you said it is out of character, right? I'm sure you trained your dog fine
Did he get into anything over the holidays? Changes in schedules over the holidays can affect pets. Did the rug event happen before or after he got the new toy? Maybe he is looking for treats under the carpet. I could not do that either. I hope he gets the message soon. I think they have spray things that repel dogs and cats from doing damage. My dog loves to tear any stuffed toys apart. Interestingly she has never attacked her bed which is also stuffed.
What has gotten into you? It's not an issue of training my pet. He is perfectly trained. Nobody said he was part owner of the house or anything else. He is a part of the family though and deserves to be treated as such. You sound like someone who has never had pets. I'm not sure where you get off telling me I don't deserve pets. I took this dog in from the shelter as a middle aged dog (which in case you don't know...aren't exactly the dogs that get adopted first.) He was in such bad shape that it took them 2 days of washing and brushing him just to get him looking presentable again. They estimated that he lived on his own in rural areas for possibly several months and his days may have been numbered if I didn't adopt him. I've had/trained dogs for most of my life so save the training lecture for someone else. And...I didn't vote your post down. I've never said a single negative thing to you since I've been here. There are a few things I was going to say in this post but instead I'll just ask you to not reply to me if you can't stop yourself from sounding like a snotty, condescending.....person.
It happened before he got his new toy. I'm starting to think he started licking the rug for whatever reason and just kept at it like some sort of compulsive thing that someone suggested earlier in the thread.
Whenever I go over to my Dad's Grace goes straight to his chair in the dining area to see if he left her any crumbs or errant chips. My floors are all hardwood so I don't know what she would do to a rug here.
We have a little dog who can magically appear directly under any scrap of food that should happen to fall on the floor. If the smallest thing hits the floor, she has it gone in no time. It's like....how was she just laying in the living room a second ago but is right there in the kitchen at the very moment that something hits the floor?
You come to a forum and whine about the dog destroying items in your house and get pissy when someone suggest training? LOL
Someone should train you. God damn Wizard maybe a spray bottle would help, if he's persistent. We trained our dog to come inside by merely shaking the spray bottle if he was being stubborn. It's too bad that this is a new problem and you did train your dog, like I thought you said... edit- personally I think it's weirdest that he LICKED a hole into the carpet.
We use a small spray bottle on our little dog. And just like you guys, we don't even have to spray it anymore. She gets the drift just by seeing it. I think the big dog would love the spray bottle though. He loves being wet.
I imagine this is the image of some of your homes: "My couch is ruined because he's an old dog, and its his house too!" says the person confined to live in an animals squalor.
