The operative word is "may". There may be (I would think probably is) and absolute reality which may exist beyond human perceptions, and some people may be able to perceive this reality accurately. But how would we know? If this absolute reality "may" exist but we don't know for sure because we are prisoners of our perceptions, what is the practical value of talking about it?

God would know this absolute reality and could let us know what that reality is without us having to perceive it for our selves.

    Ouch ...

I've been to seventy-one different planets in this [visible] universe alone. Twenty-five different galaxies. And, thirty-two different realms of existence. All in this lifetime ...

I suppose that if God can "let you know" this absolute reality, and you believe it, then you have to believe what I stated above as well.

How can you KNOW. Knowing is experiencing, not taking on faith or believing. If anyone, or anything, TELLS you something is so, and you not experience it, how can you KNOW what is being told as being true? You can't KNOW. KNOWING is experiencing, perceiving it for yourself and actually experiencing the contact with your senses ... feeling!

OWB, your statement doesn't make sense ... perhaps to a blind person who doesn't know what color is outside of the dictionary term for it, or what was learned in a physics class, but they cant know what a color is where the perception is required to experience it. To them, it's just a word that is significant to people who can experience visual perception.

Well, one of the things we were talking about is; do some things have a absolute right or wrong to them. Then it was said that nothing can be absolutely right or wrong because right or wrong is merely our perceptions of things. To which I said that perhaps there are things that have an absolute rightness or wrongness that does not depend on our perception of them. If there is a God it would seem that he would know if something has a absolute rightness or wrongness to it apart from our perception of it and he could let us know one way or another, being God it would seem he could impart that knowledge to us and thus we could know this with out experiencing it, although God would seem to have the ability to impart the experience to us as well but would not necessarily have to.

How do you know it's God letting you know, and not just your perception, confused with God's?

Forgive me, friend, but it still doesn't make sense. Neither your previous reply nor this one. Your reply (above) would mean that Jesus' statement "You will KNOW the truth ..." is false.

You cannot KNOW anything without the experience of knowing. You know when you experience feelings, and catagorize your feelings into perceptions, and further catagorize your perceptions into mental ideas, and then become aware (conscious).

If God did impart this information, then the experience would not be there to actually make sense of the information being received. It would make no sense because you have nothing to reference "sense" contact. You might as well be asleep and dreaming and say that your dreams are the absolute ... something people debate anyways ... or say that your dreams are God talking to you ... when dreams are, in reality, created by your own mind anyway from previous sense contact ... something to reference.

You know, this conversation regarding God imparting the ability to know without experience, or perception has nothing at all to do with "A perspective on why man must not sleep with man and why God hates that".

There's nothing wrong with same-sex sleeping together and if there was a God, it would not be God that hates that, but the man who "IMAGINES" what God would do ...

If God is so far above, and outside our own consciousness experience, then why would he stoop so low as to base what he would think, act, or do on our perception of it? He wouldn't. He wouldn't even give it a thought whatsoever.

Man (humans) would because of the need to perpetuate the idea of "be fruitful and multiply" ...

Quite honestly, in a strictly philosophical world there is no way to know anything. Short of that, we could be living in a world where there is no God or a world where God does not care and so, yes, one could easily perceive incorrectly and thus misunderstand the nature of the world we live in. But starting from the premise that the Bible is the Word of God, then there is a God who cares and he has through His Word the Bible told us that some things are Good and some things are Bad and they would seem to be absolutes that, regardless of our perceptions, would remain what they are.

"You will KNOW the truth ..."? Wouldn't the "experience" of knowing God allow us to know the truth without having to experience each truth separately?

What has happened is that I stated earlier that the Bible, though various scriptures, seems to indicate that Christians should not be engaging in homosexual acts. Since then a number attempts have been made to discredit that statement. This branch of the discussion being one of them.

Basically, what it comes down to is; that seeing as wrong or right, good and bad are only our perceptions and so there is no such thing as wrong or right, good or bad and so homosexual acts are neither wrong or right, good or bad and thus those who wish to engage in homosexual acts are free to ignore the Bible's counsel on this matter.

So while on the surface it would appear that this conversation has nothing to do with the original OP it is a subset of the original OP.

If as you imply, there is no God, then as you say there may be nothing wrong with same-sex sleeping together but seeing as this is the Christianity Forum to me it would seem good to get the Bible's viewpoint on the matter and the Bible does seem to indicate that homosexuality is inappropriate for Christians to be engaging in.

God does not base what he would think, act, or do on our perception of it but it seems like it would be a good idea for us base what we think, act, or do on God's "perception" of it.

Good. Then you agree He hasn't necessarily done it?

Personally, I believe he has but I can't prove he has, that is why the use of the word could.

OWB, do you consider God to be separate from yourself?

I believe a person can be one with God, I just don't believe I'm God.

What do you think of God as?

Like some being in the sky, a presence, what?

Presence is good. I'd add Paul's words (Act17:28) "in whom we live and move and have our being." As both imminent and transcendent, this presence is in the sky and in us.

You do know a lot of the things said in the bible are made up or fabricated right. Here's how I see it. If God (whatever it is) really didn't want people to be gay, boy bands never would have happened and France never would have become a country

You do know that all the descriptions of God in the Bible are, as Okiefreak likes to say, metaphorical don't you?
