A Note To Christians About The Bible.

And this next one isn't anti-Christian. It's not even anti-religion. But I often tell people, just because you found something in the Bible that supports your beliefs or actions, doesn't prove anything. And other people think this too, when you tell them that. As the very conservative American revivalist minister Jonathan Edwards told his congregation in the 18th Century, even the Devil can cite scripture for his purpose. Or as Chief Wiggum tells Lisa Simpson in the Salem witch vignette from Treehouse of Horror VIII (1997):

"The Bible says a lot of things. Shove her!"

(Note the significance of "shove her" at the end of that quote.)

 

One of the main problems with bibles is council of nycea. Even i didnt learn of it until several yrs ago. Shame on those who do know of it. Yet continue the charade. Which is 1700yrs more or less
ongoing.

 

What people find, or fail to find, in the Bible is often amazing! The "Christian" nationalists flock to the rallies of their hero and favorite Bible salesman, the Donald, who they think, despite his flaws, is sent by God to deliver us, as another Cyrus the Great or King David. When he tells them immigrants aren't human, they laugh with approval. That makes one wonder if they actually read the Book they like to thump so much. If they do, they might come across passages like Gen. 1:27--"God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." An Alabama judge cited that passage recently in ruling that embryos in IVF clinics are children made in the image of God. Yet the same "Christians" who believe this seem to think it doesn't apply to immigrants. There are other interesting passages, as well. Conservative Republican evangelicals often refer to gays as "Sodomites", but according to Ezekiel 16, God destroyed Sodom because 49 "(s)he and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me." MTG said that the recent earthquake in the northeastern U.S. and the forthcoming solar eclipse are portents of God's wrath, and a warning to repent. Marjorie Taylor Greene says NYC earthquake is God telling Americans to 'repent' Her idea of what God is upset about doesn't allow for the possibility that she is part of the problem.

 

Well, all I can say is to quote Lucifer Morningstar in the TV series, Lucifer, when he suggested to Detective Decker that they search for a certain criminal in churches, because, "You know what kind of people go to churches---Sinners."


Actually there is a scripture I like to quote from the Bible: "The"
