A New Jersey man is in the hospital with COVID-19 — just five weeks after being vaccinated.

Francisco Cosme, 52, was ecstatic when he booked an appointment for the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the Javits Center on March 6.

After Cosme was vaccinated, he continued to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines but he became “very confused and began doing things that were not normal,” his daughter, Michelle Torres, told The Post.

“April 1 was the very first day he started to have symptoms,” Torres said. “He had a cough, fever, chills, everything.”

The 31-year-old drove her father to a clinic where he tested positive for COVID-19 and he was instructed to quarantine for 10 days.

Last week, his condition worsened and Torres noticed he had trouble breathing and called 911 during a visit to his home in Edison, New Jersey.

After giving Cosme oxygen, the ambulance crew rushed him to John F. Kennedy Medical Center, where he is in critical condition and is also being treated for pneumonia.

“I’m trying to hold it together, every day you don’t know what is happening,” said a tearful Torres.

“The doctor said they did all they can do it and it’s up to him to fight and up to God.”

Torres told The Post her mother, husband and children ended up testing positive for COVID and are in quarantine until next Sunday.

“We survived the whole year without it [vaccine] doing all the things we are supposed to so do — social distancing, washing hands and masking up,” she explained.

“It’s crazy and we need answers,” Torres concluded.

The Post also reported that a Brooklyn woman who got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the Javits Center on March 10 contracted COVID-19

Bummer; I'm sincerely sorry for their trouble, and wish them a fast and complete recovery.
However, that's just two cases out of 6.8 million doses administered.
Six cases of blood clots have also been reported (<1:1000,000), and the CDC has recommended a "pause" in the administration of the J&J vaccine while they study the issue.
Nothing similar has been reported with Pfizer and Moderna.

I saw a news article that they were pausing use of the J&J vaccine... I didn't read the whole article, just noticed the headline.

None of the vaccines is 100% effective. J&J is shown to be about 85% effective against getting seriously ill from covid, but that still leaves a 15% chance of getting really sick. With Pfizer and Moderna it leaves 5%. Yes there will be cases of people still getting sick after being vaccinated, we're trying to minimize it.

Sonoma County discovers 39 fully vaccinated people were infected by COVID-19

At least 39 Sonoma County residents who were fully vaccinated against the coronavirus have subsequently contracted the infectious disease, with two of the cases known to involve a West Coast virus mutation.

The discovery local public health officials acknowledged Tuesday represents the first information released about county residents who have gotten completely inoculated, then two weeks or more later tested positive for the virus.

Key update: Sonoma County discovers about 40 vaccinated residents infected by COVID-19

I wouldnt take the J&J vaccine but I really am not sure stopping the vaccine because of a few cases of negative reactions (which is less reactions than people get from regular flu shots and otc medications am i wrong??) is a good idea at all. we need to inject mf'ers and its supposed to be happening roughly all at once so the virus will get fucked and cant develop variants.

"Such instances are rare nationally and known as “breakthrough cases,“ meaning the virus has broken through despite the protection from vaccinations. Infectious disease experts say this category of infection can be expected, since existing COVID-19 vaccines don’t give people 100% immunity. The two most widely used vaccines, Pfizer and Moderna, are respectively 95% and 90% effective at preventing infection by the pandemic disease.“This is real-world evidence that the vaccines are incredibly effective at preventing illness and are lifesaving. The more people we can vaccinate, the less opportunity the virus can spread current variants or create new ones.”

We've got both our shots. We've also got a 200 ct. box of KN95 masks and fully intend to follow CDC guidelines on infection control.
    Don't let your guard down.
