    Hey, guys.

I'm new to this whole thing, and have been reading up on it... it's quite intriguing, the whole idea of going barefoot in public.

Anyway, I was thinking about walking up to the local park and taking a stroll there, barefoot of course. I figured it would be the best way to ease into it. It's not too far away, and I plan on doing it in the morning, so there shouldn't be too many people around. Then I can start getting bolder with it as my comfort level improves.

Also, I'm pretty much always barefoot in the house. It's been that way for as long as I can remember. I hate wearing socks unless I absolutely have to.

To be honest, I'm pretty shy about this whole thing, and am especially shy about being barefoot in public. I've worn sandals before, and even that was killer. But I do love the feeling of different textures under my feet, and the thrill of doing something that isn't the norm, and if that wasn't enough, I also have the desire to live without regret.

Therefore, I am going to tackle this new challenge :2thumbsup:

Take your time and ease into it. Depending on what kind of trees and vegetation are in that park or if it has paved walk ways, you may or may not step on things that prick your feet. Try not do go anywhere early on in your barefoot travels that becomes too much hassle to enjoy the experience or it may put you off. Good luck.

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice, guys! I appreciate it.

Today, I had my first experience going barefoot in public. I actually decided to keep my shoes on as I walked up to the park, but shed them when I got there. No one around except a girl and her dog. I did a few laps around the soccer field and it was great.

Will have to expand on that gradually :)

Enjoy being barefoot!. You made your first steps today without any problems build on that confidence. The more you do it the easier it becomes. You will meet people who will question you. Don't be intimidated by them - just confidently explain why you choose to not wear shoes. Most people are quite intrigued and are interested to know (well here in the UK anyway). Just enjoy your soles going over different surfaces and you'll be amazed on how good you will feel in yourself getting your free "Ions" from mother earth. Very best of luck to you.

The support I get here is what makes me confident enough to do this.

  11. You might feel "exposed" or "outside the envelope" but there is NOTHING ODD or WRONG about going barefoot. It feel exquisite, and life is too damn aggravating NOT to do it! GO FOR IT!!!! (oh, and report back, soldier)

I feel a degree of what you feel. Every spring I toss shoes and it's always awkward in my mind at the beginning. But after a week or so I'm not thinking about it much other than, hey I'm driving somewhere to do an errand and it's gonna have to be barefoot.

I hope it's okay if I bump this back up.

I figured it would be better to give updates here rather than in a brand new thread.

Anywho, I had my first real barefoot outing today. Or, the first major one anyway.

I walked out the door barefoot this morning, and headed straight past two blocks and into the park, where I did one half-lap around before heading home. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself. But on the other hand, I'm also feeling kind of stupid in hindsight.

My feet were hurting like crazy about halfway through, and the walk home was killer. They're still pretty banged up, but I'll be okay. It's certainly not overshadowing the exhilaration I felt being totally free.

I'll take it slow for now though. Let myself recover. Don't worry, haha.
