hey SE! where ya been man? well...the whole "it's my hair so fuck what you want" idea, while i agree with it, it just isn't an option...im not willing to start an argument that big over something like this, not with family...and while we would eventually work our way around that disagreement and bury the hatchet, it's just not worth all the trouble... i'll figure somethin out, but as of now my main concern is back to finding a new job, as i've decided i wont be taking the one i mentioned
well...the only thing it really has goin for it is that they'll let me grow dreads...otherwise, every other aspect is at best a sidegrade, if not downgrade... the main part being that i wouldn't have a reliable and guarantee'd income because it would be commissioned based, and seeing as i have no experience in selling anything, im just not sure it's a good idea and ya, i know...im jealous
ooo yeah that is rough, though if you end up being good at it you could possibly bank. and I love the dreadies, but it does make me a bit nervous on the job search.
Family are more important than dreads. Unconditional love works both ways. If your brother isn't willing to give, that doesn't mean you shouldn't have the good graces to. Someone once said "choose your battles wisely". Everything doesn't have to be turned into a battle of wills or into taking a stand on something. It's just hair. He's your brother. What's most important? You seem like a nice guy who thinks things through instead of having knee jerk reactions. Some may think your brother is acting unreasonable, but like you've said...it's his wedding day and he feels strongly about it. Ten years down the road it really won't matter if your dreads are a few months younger than they might have been, you know. Here's hoping it all works out well and that your brother and his wife-to-be have a long and loving marriage.
ya understandable...but i seem to recall you're in austin? if so i wouldn't think they would be *too* big a deal, seeing as austin is a college town who's motto is "keep austin weird"... i might be lookin around austin (and san marcos, dallas, houston) for a job as well...
Oh yeah it's not problem whatsoever in Austin, but I'm in SA right now, just got back from the road and gotta find a temp job here until we move into a new place in Austin, I have a few music gigs in Austin in the next month, but not all of them pay more than tips. So weeak sauce, I already feel like I'm stagnating here and it hasn't even been a week!
gypsy i missed ur post! ty for the reply and thanks for a different view from everyone else  very true...damn you and ur good logic !!! (pat, is that "ur" acceptable? :tongue and zilla...ur in SA? zomg me too! i'd say we should chill but i would totally embarrass myself...you'd end up havin to go home early from an overdose of AWKWARD! bed time...night everyone
muahaha well awkward wears off after a few drinks. Maybe we know some of the same people, you should facebook me if you have it. I'll PM you my link if you do.
ya i got facebook...link! link! and true dat...a couple drinks in and awkwardness leaves, but obnoxiousness comes to visit  though i dont think i get too bad i can almost guarantee we dont know any of the same peeps...mainly cause i dont really know anyone haha
Haha. +1 for making me laugh on a morning full of cleaning dog barf. Shameless plug for a buddy: While in Austin shop at Tribe Comics. If Vedren is working, tell him Soria sent you! It would freak him out.
oh yeh forgot that part well yeh like gypsy said you could wait until the weddings over but do what you think is right nobody else
you could always get into construction, loads of work, you can look how ya want, and the money is pretty good, many fields to choose from to. i been a welder for about 17 yrs, and i cant complain, other than the dread fires i get occasionally.. but good pay.
hey vulgar! seems like it's been a while since you been around the forums too ya...well in case anyone missed my comment in the "what you doin today" thread, im thinkin im gonna start my dreads now...even with my current employer forbidding them...as long as they're in a ponytail no one should really notice a difference, especially with the neglect method... construction...i've done some of that kind of work before...underground utilities specifically (also had a lil while working for a golf cart maintenance and repair shop) ... i have a couple problems with that kind of work...1) the cold...when winter rolls around i absolutely cannot stand goin to work, cause i friggin hate being cold...when i start shivering my back starts hurting like a mofo and 2) i dont feel needed...im a small guy (5'5" 115lbs) so i can't work as efficiently in that kind of work as the bigger and stronger guys...if i dont feel like im needed at work, i have a hard time getting myself to show up...of course, i was at a different point in my life when i did that kind of work, i wasn't as responsible as i am now, so it might be different, but i think that me feeling unneccessary was a large part of me not being "responsible"...if i dont show up to my job now, the store doesnt open, the consequences are much bigger, so it's kind of forcing me to be responsible... i did apply to the animal humane society today...they're hiring hopefully they'll have a position open that'll offer me enough pay to warrant leaving my current job
yargh...i manage a store... payday loans is the business... i hate it...im way too nice to be doing collections, and i hate the tactics and ethics the company encourages us to use
hey , its all good, im sure you will find happiness in yer career soon enough, lol at the lil guy problrms, we have a few smaller fellas at our shop, but there very hard workers, but ya i know what ya mean about the cold, i hate it , makes me hurt in all my joints, i only have a few nore years till i can retire, im lucky enough to be able to stop working when i will be 40, then, im movin to florida, were it is warm most of the year!!! good luck to ya with the dreads, post fotos when ya start
