It’s 4th of July - time to remember, reflect, think and plan further actions.
For a long time, America has been a dreamland.
You people have shown the true meaning of the word- freedom.
You have led the world in scientific achievements and the true prosperity.
The world has looked at America with awe and wonder. Being an American has been a dream of millions and billions.

So, it hurts now to read articles like this-
    http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2014/07/03/washington-murders-countries-us-constitution-presstitute-media-makes-americans-complicit-paul-craig-roberts/

Having Murdered Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and the US Constitution, Washington is now Murdering Ukraine.

While we sat sucking our thumbs, shaking in our boots in fear of nonexistent “terrorists,” our Constitution was murdered by Washington.

Read it and be so ashamed. Everything American has been totally dishonored by “our” government, which has become the epitome of total evil.
    --

Tell us that it’s not true.

Show us that it’s not America which has fallen, but a small powerful elite group which is damaging your country.
Arise and show us that you are not dead yet and America is still much more than these power hungry, ever greedy capitalist group.

Show us that you have not borrowed your achievements from the world and happiness from your children. It’s not borrowed, but earned with hard work and toil.

Don’t like to say this on this day, but is it simply true that your time is up, credit card is topped up and a cold grave awaits you?

Or simply we should mind our own business and see you crumbling down?

You could say the same about the UK as well.

Love that line and that song and ratm in general.

In any case, I have no shame about having been born in the US... and I also have no pride about being born in or living in the US. I have never really celebrated the 4th and it rather annoys me with all the red white and blue shit and people grilling shitty burgers and hot dogs of all things. But yea, it can be fun anyways to grill yummy, delicious food and see fireworks... but if and when I do those things I don't do it for the 4th really... I do those things all summer and if it happens to fall around the 4th.... well, I just celebrated my 11th wedding anniversary on the 2nd and I celebrate that instead. :)

    Lol...

    Totally understandable though.

Last night when the local fireworks started for a couple seconds I thought someone was shooting outside the window... until luckily my mind went "oh yea, fireworks".

a little rat tat tat tat last night,, I thought my air conditioner was making the noise.

fireworks annoy me, but they dont really give me full blow flashbacks.. memories a little, but nothing really disturbing. distant booms more so than local firecrackers.

I think I remember saying last year at one point when there were just people putting off various fireworks for weeks surrounding the 4th of July here that it would be the perfect time for someone to shoot someone without a silencer and have no one even notice.

seriously? wow. i have ptsd, i don't expect others to stop celebrating for my sake. if you know the fireworks are gonna go off, expect them. get some earplugs.... this is silly. no sympathy for people who choose to join military willingly only to suffer the consequences....

How insensitive ThePoetSappho...do you know how many people have joined the military and made that mistake...or perhaps don't even feel it is a mistake? Regardless of why people make bad decisions there's no reason to purposely trigger someone and then deflate their experience because you just don't give a shit.

    That's an option.
One would expect that a person suffering from ptsd would be more understanding and sympathetic towards others who have it.

that's fine, i don't need to prove anything to anyone. i have the diagnosis from a psychiatrist, i know what i have gone through. and i certainly don't expect people to tiptoe around me -like avoiding fireworks- just because of that. i take personal responsibility and don't expect others to accommodate me.

of course i do- and i also don't expect to be coddled or get special treatment. everyone is messed up, hurt, wounded, in one way or another.... doesn't mean i need people to put up trigger warnings or give me special space. i've had to adjust to normal life just like everyone else.

you're right. he has my sympathy. but i won't change my behavior - especially widely understood behavior such as setting off fireworks on the 4th. it's not like anyone is doing it on his property, or making him listen to it.
