I loved this movie...it really made me think. I'll probably read the book after I finish Wild Child: Life With Jim Morrison
I've read the book:It's better than the film. For one thing: Alex is only 15 years old in the book.(Malcolm McDowell was a good deal older!). Anthony Burgess based this futuristic novel on a personal wartime experience when some renegade awol American G.I.s raped his wife in England. As I mentioned earlier on the thread;Mick Jagger was slated to play 'Alex' or a similar based character in an early screenplay adaptation in 1965. I vaguely remember the furore & moral panic caused on the film's release in 1971.Mary Whitehouse (clean-up the media campaigner) wanted it banned in all cinemas & it was eventually banned by most local authorities in Britain.Stanley Kubrick had it removed from distribution after death threats & blocked it's transfer into the home-viewing videotape market while he was alive. A controversial film but in the best interests of movie-buffs;not a film masterpiece. -Bad choice of Swimming Pool Attendants.
I love this movie! but then again I love pretty much anything by stanley kubrick, he has a real gift for making good books into great movies. The Shining anyone?
Indeed A Clock Work Orange is the one for me. Try watching this one on LSD!.I've seen it so many times on acid. As soon as it finished watching it again!.Amazing. On 2CI/2CB will Do.
Couldn't get into the movie. But it could have been because I had a bunch of people telling me it was terrible and telling me not to watch it. They permiated my brain. Loved the book. Transfixed.
Some of the moloko plus yeah! Yeah some of the moloko plus but you especially cause we got a start on you, yeah moloko plus. Good! Real Horrorshow!
Clockwork Orange is a groovy flick - i love what McDowell did with the character, although i always prefer him in the role of Caligula
my fav seen is probably the one where alex is singing"singing in the rain"because it just goes with the moment in a sick twisted way that i love
I saw a guy with a shirt that said: "Droogs don't run" at my work the other day. i didn't say anything to him. but i gave him a nod of appreciation.
