1984 made me question authority more then I did befor I read it, and Steal This Book definitely made me more foa troubl maker and helped me to get back into my writing (don't ask how it did, I dont know.)
"The Doors of Perception" - Aldous Huxley. It helped me to realise that drugs weren't the bad things I had been brought up to believe and made me look at my whole life in a new perspective. I was 17. Peace, Aidan.

I second this and man really anything by kerouac is just so amazing... by far my favorite writer... the man just has a way with the words he chooses
I thrid this....I just finished reading this last week, and it is definately a book that has and will influence my life
Everyday Karma by Carmen Harra. Awesome book to help you resolve your karma and to help you realize happiness through it. I also love the Harry Potter series. J.K. Rowling is a hero of mine. She gave me hope to become a writer.
this seems to be a theme in this thread, but anything and everything by Kerouac. there is something almost biblical about his books; you take inspiration from them. I especially liked The Dharma Bums. anyways, I also think Steinbecks books are beautiful- I never knew that a book could make you feel as sad and as angry and as taken with humanity all at once as The Grapes of Wrath did. So that pretty much changed my life, too. Oh, and "poemcrazy" by Susan Wooldrige. It's amazing-- kind of half textbook, half novel, but it totally changed my writing and life.
Anything by Dr. Suess... if it wasn't for 'Hop on Pop', my mother wouldn't have had to raise us all by herself. Apparently, Dr. Suess failed to take into account that sometimes 'Pops' have heart conditions that render such forms of physical abuse lethal! So yeah, I guess you could say that ASSHOLE changed my life forever. DAMN YOU TO HELL, SUESS!
omg i love THIS LULLABY... its the most realistic fiction book ive ever read... if that makes sense :-s anyways LOVE IT
the most influential book in my life was probably The Little Prisoner... its about this girl who gets put into a foster home with her brother but when's she's about four her mum and her new husband take her back.. but leave her brother in the foster care place... her step father is really abusive, mentally, and physically.. he also used to touch her and make her do things to him. when she was bout 15 he pushed her to get a boyf and as soon as she slept with the boyf he started raping her. she ran away and had a baby. he found her and was still coming around every morning and raping her til she was in her mid 20s... she finally had the courage to run again. she developed a few mental problems and had extreme anxiety etc but she finally found the courage to charge him, go thru court and sent the bastard to jail.... its a beautiful book and i cried most of the way thru it
