I would imagine that at some point we would have rid our world of rusty nails, broken glass, and dog poo piles and people could walk around without watching where they are going without any problems and footwear will become obsolete.
Although I sense bare feet are becoming more and more fashionable and there's those barefoot sandals for the women to remain fashionable. Personally I'd love to live in a world where shoes and socks were obsolete.

Walking barefoot on soil has its benefits in the sense that the soles absorbs prana or chi from the soil. This is also called as soil prana. There is prana or chi on the land, and walking barefoot helps one to absorb it. This is why some people enjoy walking on grass barefoot instead of with shoes or socks. I enjoy walking barefoot on the beach, and on parks and gardens ,and do so as much as possible, holding my slippers with the hands .
