    Hey Fritz,

One day I looked around me and discovered that everything I "knew" was simply an extravagant lie built on a bunch of other lies that everybody seems to accept as their reality without question. After spending years working and being generous to others with the fruits of my labors, I came to realize that I was trapped in a box that it seemed only I was truly aware of. To even speak some of the newly apparent truths to those around me was to incite such well structured self denials and illogical misdirections that it became clear that the best course of action was to learn to keep my damn mouth shut.

So I decided that I would like to go live by myself in a cave somewhere and seek truth outside of the virtual prison that everyone chooses to be a part of. Then I thought, no...not really, what I truly desire is to go and live by myself in a cave with a bunch of other people who also would like to go live by themselves in caves, so to speak.

I'm 36, from Upstate New York, and quite unlike most of the people around me. I believe in love and compassion for our fellow peeps. Like the Buddhists say, everything suffers. And as a bit of an empath, I have always felt others suffering, and even been compelled to ease it when possible. Sadly, this American society with its deification of money and power and stepping on anyone to raise oneself, often abuses people like me. I had found a way to live within it, but I don't want to anymore.

I want to find a place where I can be me, and not maintain a front for the benefit of everyone around me, as well as for my own self-protection from those who feel the need to smash gentleness for their own personal reasons. I'd like to spend my days working, my evenings sharing a meal with the people I'm a part of, and my nights singing and dancing under the stars, thankful to be alive and free. From reading this thread, it appears that your community may be such a place.

I spent 4 years in the army, 2 years working a dairy farm, and then 10 years as a tradesman (carpentry, roofing, siding, electrical, plumbing - residential and commercial). I watched, and even participated, in the waste of precious resources to create chipboard and vinyl-sided Mcmansions for a middle-class that is doomed to eventually no longer exist. I believe that this nation, with its falsely heightened standard of living at the cost of any other nation's resources that we take by imperialistic force, is in its fall. All the while grooming politicians and media pundits to spin the stories so that we don't rise up and drag down the powers that be and reveal the awful truth that they have become so good at hiding. I don't want my skills to any longer be a part of continuing that cycle.

Truth be told, I am a hippie in a part of the U.S. that doesn't have many, and mostly hates them. Thoughts are dangerous, and the truth is the most dangerous of all.

    sundrinker24@yahoo.com

That's my email. I would greatly appreciate opening a dialogue and perhaps coming to visit, and if it clicks, maybe stay and let my skills and my soul be part of something that can bring me peace. I've begun to disassemble the life I have lived in preparation of leaving it behind for something with meaning. I'm going, definitely. I just don't know where.

Just a quick post here...Sandra at Belle Lea Acres is still looking for a serious gardener type not afraid to get his/her hands dirty GROWING THINGS. Pretty rolling farmland surrounded by amish farms...requires pioneering type outlook and commitment to spend time in the gardens ... specialty crops...chickens....a rescue horse and two funny Sicilian Donkeys make it interesting on a large wooded 84 acre farm. Join Sam and 4 others in COMMUNITY. She describes it as Rough and Tumble but there IS phone and internet. And vehicles to go into town. A great opportunity to learn specialty crop growing business and even the opportunity to do your own thing. Any serious homesteaders out there? This reminder brought to you by mike/supporting member.

Nice. Good to hear your getting that clay soil in shape. My folks are in Virginia and the ground soil was totally different then what I'm used to in the midwest. Composting is a must. How'd they grow tobacco in the day. Must like clay soil.I would like to have a truckload to try to grow sweet onions. Vidalias.

i used to be interested in this place for a LONG time. well about 8 months. i was actually on my way this place. I was hitching with some random chick when she got caught up in drugs and crap.
but i talked to someone who spent some time there....and my opinion changed. The only way he put it, was that there was too much "drama" going on. i was wondering if you can clarify that.

if things have changed, i would love to come spend time there. i know alot about the place. the 1st time the owner called me, i spent about 1 1/2 hours on the phone with her. it was awesome.

    peace

I'll clarify it for you Techno. I don't know who you talked to, but I arrived a week ago and the only drama I've been aware of has come from others who are no longer here. If you were interested to begin with, you should probably check it out for yourself and not let someone else's possibly slanted opinions sway you. Love it here. Just don't be afraid to work.

I think you will find that stories of drama and bullshit are going to grow.

That's what happens when you play silly little games...

Look through the thread... "I just got here, it's wonderful", and then we never hear from them again...

You may think it is better to try to pretend that some people didn't come, but all you are doing is making it look really really bad.

You have had multiple people go there and leave...

    WHY?

Address it, the same way you found them... publicly...

Or you can choose to ignore it all and pretend that this hasn't been happening and let the bullshit grow.

As it stands right now in this thread, people are invited out to join the owner who refuses to actually take part in the invitation (except once or twice using other people's accounts), they get there, get online, brag, and then disappear...

I assume they had some sort of personality clash and left... but for all we know... you ate them... as they seem to disappear...

CronicTom.... first of all... u can say whatever that u would like to say. but i would also like to say that the people that have left have been crazy or lazy or rude.Sam found a lady in the woods and invited her to come stay and that lady ended up to be a psyco Lady. she had crazy outbusts of anger. and she was really rude. she did not like te idea of the (a) community... But she loved the idea of having total control over it. which sam has worked her ass off for people and she is not going to play little game. that is just one case of the many the last one to leave did nothing. he was a good man however. A man but he didnt do anything at all...besides be on the computer.

to Answer ur question WHY we have had so many people leave and come.... its a trial and error thing. if they dont like it then they leave...Some of them did not understand that farming is hard work. and that they had to get along with everyone.

The reason why the owner does not get on is because she had 3 people sign up for a hip fourm account on this computer. and now the site will not let her get on. i have offered for her to take over mine.... but she does not want to....

i now that the reason why i dont coment much. is cuz i dont like being on the internet that often and when i am on. im not on long. for mabe 20 min or so.

Of course it's a trial and error thing.

However, if you are going to have an online presence, asking for people to come, and have people respond... then post from the property about how great it is... and then just disappear with no explanations, it looks bad.

Here's a head's up for you, a lot of those that went to sam's place, wasted tons (collectively speaking) of my time long before this was ever mentioned.

Sam could have found this out long ago, but chose to wait until I posted that last post to contact me to explain to me the woes she had with them...

and although I feel sympathy for her, I do have to laugh...

As for your choice to respond to me in this manner... perhaps you should re-read my post again...

I have had good people at my farm, and I have more good people on the way...

    That wasn't the point.

What I don't get at my farm (or around me period) anymore... are those who are looking for a place to play computer games all day, or those who are under any impression other then they either work as hard as we do, or they fuck off...

They usually change their minds when they talk to me for a short bit and make up bullshit excuses as to why they can't come... Things like... oh, I was on my way, but they wouldn't let me cross the border... or, I'd come there, but you don't have enough people, or I love everything you are doing, but expected more to be done... and so on and so forth...

Yes, it is extremely hard to find good people, especially when the majority of people online are all talk, and the majority of those who aren't all talk, aren't online...

This is why I jumped in to defend YOUR place... because when I think people are being real, I think they should be supported by the others who are real...

But, you can't do this online and pretend that problems don't happen... NOBODY believes it, and it just makes you look bad...

Look though this thread as a newcomer... and read what is said in it, and then ask yourself, what impression you get from it (minus the last two days)...

You may know the stories of what has happened, and how certain people are fucktards who don't live up to what they say... but the newcomers, and potential people who are coming don't...

They only see what is posted...

Want 100% proof that I am right about this?

Read through the posts and see who things are addressed to as part of your community who are no longer involved...

Me my boyfriend and son have been looking into a good commune to join and yours sounds like a great place. We enjoy primitive living and are hard workers (except for my son its like pulling teeth with him but he is just 9 lol) and we feel we could be of help to you. Terry has home improvement and carpentry experience, makes dreamcatchers and is awesome with a paintbrush. I enjoy learning crafts and can pick up quickly. If you could contact me at jlfarrar22@aol.com it would be appreciated. We are ready for a change.

I am a single female also interested and have thought long and hard about this for years I grow herbs and flowers, dry and make teas, ointments, balms, salves, soaps, lotions etc... an herbalist by nature self taught, I make as well as dried wreathes, floral things to sell, quilts, baskets, and most anything hand made I can make, from rugged furniture, to clothing, I have always been self sufficient and hard working. I am a gemologist by trade, but the economy has left me reeling, I just think its time for a change. Would you message me if please at gini.addington@gmail.com

I'm interested and have many skills including gardening, irrigation, cooking, cleaning, and I can hit a nail with a hammer at least 50% of the time. I'm also housebroken :)
No feathers, fins, or fur here, it's just me.
