80s kids - What do you miss about the 80s?

Discussion in 'Remember When?' started by Vanilla Gorilla, May 23, 2018.

  1. I miss when soda came in big glass bottles. Oh, there's so much I miss about being a kid in the 80s. If you ignored the politics (and I did, I was a kid) it was just a blast all around. Everything was a lot more naive, then, too. Things were still shocking to people in a small town. I miss that innocence.

mostly that people still remembered the 60s and 70s.
and even people who remembered the 30s and 40s were still alive.

fan run science fiction conventions. i guess they still exist but i haven't been to one in decades.
that and 8 bit computing. oh and there were still local intercity buses. and brick and mortar hobby shops.

woolworth's, monkey wards, and wishing well, and local hardware stores too. wally world didn't exist yet.
hippy resteraunts and music stores, geodesic domes were still a big thing, lots of ways to live cheap.

and radio shack wasn't the only electronics store in town.

i was a 50s kid, but the 80s was only half my life ago.

I miss the graphic design of the 80s. Lots of use of neon. I guess it made a gradual comeback after the 90s came and went.

MTV actually played music videos and we all would be so excited for world premier videos.

I just feel like that was the best decade I've lived in, so far. The 80's had great music. The economy was mostly booming, so there wasn't alot of stress. The 80's gave us an explosion of different music mainly due to MTV. it allowed all cultures hear and form an appreciation for each others music. The 90's were everything changed for the worst and it has never recovered aside from a few.
