I just talked to my two friends who left the gathering on the night of the 4th. Ommmmmmmmmm....circle was beautiful and not interfered with.

They described the "event" as terrifying. They were at main circle, and people started calling for Shanti Sena, and someone also yelled "fire". People ran to kidd village, some carrying buckets of water (which is good that there was plenty of water to wash the pepper bullet stuff out of peoples eyes, and off their skin). From their understanding, a woman was being VERY violently arrested. NO ONE threw rocks until these pepper bullet thingys were fired at innocent people (including children. A baby was hit with one!!!). Only a hand full, maybe 3 people, threw things at feds. There was no "angry mob"...of course. Just people who ran to see what was going on. A lot of people got hurt. They also witnessed cops looking into any tents that had open flaps, as well as cops coming in and harrassing people for nothing at all...spreading negative energy in their wake. They witnessed the cops instigating a fight between some family, even...(their game...we mustn't play.)
All praises that the circle on the fourth went without interruption. Even
"they" can't pull it off...hahaha. We're all in this together. One, two, three, four, we don't want their fucking war!!!

I was there... my wife was in Kid Village with my child. They raided right after Kid Village dinner circle. The kids had gone up to the kitchen to eat. Very few adults were already there. Rubber bullets and pepper balls were fired into a circle of family (holding children) with their arms in the air. Video of all of this was taken, some rather close, and I've been told by numerous elders that these will soon be on YouTube. They will be more revealing than anything I can say except that there was no fire. We were shouting "Shots fired!"

Incidentally, there was no baby hit with anything.

Oh my! Is it just me or are the feds' games getting more dangerous as the years go on? This is ridiculous. I hope that everyone is okay and that the ACLU gets on this FAST!

Please, call the number below if you witnessed what happened.

    Associated Press - July 5, 2008 5:25 PM ET
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union plans to investigate how federal law enforcement officers treated members of the Rainbow Family during their annual gathering this year in western Wyoming... Linda Burt is executive director of the ACLU in Wyoming. She says her organization plans to accept collect calls from Rainbow Family members for the next two weeks to hear how law enforcement treated them.

My source was people at main circle, and they said some people thought there was a fire, when "shots fired" was yelled. So, the baby being hit with one of the pepper balls was a rainbow ruhmor? It spread pretty quick, then, as they had heard that by the evening of the 4th. Of course, perspective from one area of the gathering versus being there, is a totally different thing. Please make sure you talk to the ACLU about what you saw and heard!!! I'm glad there's lots of video. Thanks for the update, as i know that all of us that have been getting news, just trickling in, have been very concerned and desiring some real news.

i just read, of the recent post in a new thread, that the sherriffs son was found dead apparently,by a self inflickted gun wound! and was missing for some time, was his absence the cause of this? i certainly hope that there was no "foul play" my heart goes out to the sherriff and his family!

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The U.S. Forest Service should consider banning the Rainbow Family from Forest Service land after a confrontation last week led to the arrest of at least eight people, a top agency official said Monday. John Twiss, director of Forest Service Law Enforcement and Investigations in Washington, D.C., said... Twiss characterized the Rainbow participants as "non-compromising," "arrogant" and "anti-authority." [emphasis mine]

I can't think of any honest words of comment that wouldn't get me in trouble, so I won't say a word.

Official: Forest Service may try to ban Rainbows

By BEN NEARY – 15 hours ago
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A U.S. Forest Service official says the agency must consider banning the Rainbow Family from its land after a confrontation led to the arrest of at least eight people in Wyoming.
John Twiss, director of Forest Service Law Enforcement and Investigations in Washington, D.C., said Monday that he was among the officers who responded last week when Rainbow Family members threw sticks and rocks at federal officers.
The Forest Service says the episode started when officers tried to arrest a member of the Rainbow Family, a group of hippie types and eccentrics who camp on public land every year.
About 7,000 people turned out for this year's event, held on Forest Service land near Big Sandy in western Wyoming.

and i see they are burning the woods down again... oops

I gotta say i found it rather appalling that the news was everywhere when the sheriffs son went missing and was thought to be at the gathering... How come the news that he was found dead wasnt found everywhere or anywhere in fact , once they did find him..??

i read an article this morning and they were not releasing the names of anyone arrested .Supposedly those that were had court yesterday but nothing as yet that i have been able to find...

I still am finding it odd how little news from news sources or people that attended is out there.. We generally see videos, posts, complaints , wonderful words of family luv etc from a hella bunch more folks than what we have found so far on any of what happened out there... kinda sorta disturbing to me

I only know of two who were arrested. One was an elder with a large beard and gray hair. The other was a sister, mid to late 30's with red hair and a little girl. I'm not willing to post names here, but if you are looking for family that meets this description, I'd be willing to pm the sister's name. I don't know the name of the elder.
