not to take anything away from those willing to sacrifice themselves, but fighting is simply not my idea of freedom. you don't have to fight for something if its something you have. if you do have to fight to gain or keep it, then its not really something you have at all. for some, fighting is a gratification in itself, and for some of some, even if you loose it is. but i'm not someone who lives for drama. to me, existence is about exploring and creating, from which fighting is an annoying distraction, all the more when it comes to you unbidden. i'm thankful that i live in a place that allows me to live my perspective, but it is not all it could be in allowing everyone to do so, which it so often fails so miserably at doing. if that is as much as can be expected of humans, the rest of the universe has every right to consider this species and its planet, a very real potential security risk to everyone else. so of course i have very mixed feelings about this day, about celebrating the birth of a nation on the backs of stolen land the best i can do, is let ALL of that, fade into the background as best i can, and try to enjoy that others are enjoying the pretty lights in the sky.
Joey Chestnut took first place again this year in the Nathan's hot dog eating contest at 76 dogs, breaking his previous world record of 75 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
I ate two hot dogs yesterday cost me $2.48 cents...............took me 14 minutes............no chips.
haven't eaten a hot dog as such in ages. when i was living in california, even in roseville and occasionally in auburn, and when i visited sacramento they were common around the capital itself, vendeors with carts that heated them and added your choice of toppings, beyond the usual catchup or mustard, kraut, tomatoes, dill pickles, even avacado sometimes. but that was all nearly ten years ago, last i lived down there. auburn (also once named holocsu or flat rock) even had a non-franchise, indepentent, entirely hotdog only resteraunt. custom combos. chilli, with or without beans. like a chilli+kraut+dill and tomatoe dog. on a bun of course, but there were other options too. 2 and 48 sounds like a pretty good price for two of them. i'd expect maybe one for that, and something more like five for two of them.
custom embroidery places will make you a really great big one for a couple of hundred bux. for a couple hundred bux i'd rather buy myself a new refrigerator, but i guess that's just me. uniforms aren't the only people who sacrifice their own freedom and honor, for the freedom and dignity of others. honor to everyone who does so, whether they wear a uniform of some kind or not. but THAT color scheme, just no. what it stands for maybe, but as a color scheme, no. i really wish people would realize and appreciate, that you can make art with pyrotechnic displays, and not just big skyflowers and loud noise. my really big dissapointment this year, and for many years now, is how this seems to have been forgotten.
still an ok country. still not an exceptional one. except in collective narcissistic ego, which is not ok. still the only one in which i have ever lived, making me feel unqualified to judge any other nation, nor its worth greater or lesser or by what degree, in relation to them. still not believing in the exceptionalism of any nation, ideology nor belief. pretty lights in the sky are pretty lights in the sky. loud noises are not, my feelings about making things go boom, are much like those of nearly all other species on our planet.
