heh, well if one of the (level headed)students had a pistol or something maybe they could have saved many lives/injuries, cuz insane people are still going to manage to get weapons regardless of their legality, need to level the playing field, they know no1 else has a weapon, but if they did they might think twice

I wouldnt say it was an insane person, just asshole loner most likely that had access to a gun, and felt like going out with a bang. I think the only reason people chose massacre+suicide is because all the media it attracts, its like suicide bombers getting their virgins except they get the 6:00 news and some youtube videos.

    AP Reports:

Shooter bled to death at the scene, after attempted suicide. Witnesses stated that the shooter pointed the 9mm in his hand to his throat and fired a shot. The shooter fell down to the floor, yet appeared to be still alive as he was violently shaking in a semi-premortal state. The shooter's nervous system was not yet shut down, as he proceeded to lay on the floor for 3 hours. Paramedics did not immediately treat the shooter, focusing their attention on the victims. The shooter proceeded to lay on the floor in miserable pain, until he bled to death. A police officer at the scene said that he could literally see the shooter close his eyes at the moment of death as he was examining the body.

Too bad schools are not forced to teach firearm safety and also how to properly use one. Would be rather intersting to see what the outcome would be? Might be worse, might be better, coin toss really.

Merely accepting the world to be as it is does not allow for change (obviously).

Shutting up and not caring about things like this are what allow them to happen, the media is going to put it out and its our responsibility to remind everyone how pointless and stupid this is and WHY its so pointless and stupid and WHY it should never happen again...

The point here is to not create the suicidal dumbass in the first place, he was a kid, he was a teenager, he grew up into exactly what he was - but he didn't have to.

Turning a blind eye solves nothing... it merely permits those who may take interest to peer as long as they wish and draw whatever conclusion they may.

Any absolution of ignorance is a good thing... knowledge truly is power :)

More important than knowing how to use a gun are the inevitable discussions about WHEN and WHY to use a gun... hint: guns need to disassociate as a tool used to forcefully eject brain matter - guns are for defense and hunting...

    Nah.

The more you talk about it, the more you remind people of it. It's a simple cycle. Have you noticed how many school shootings there have been since Columbine? Plenty.

    Why...?

Ahh! Maybe because people made such an enormous deal out of Columbine.

And so on and on and on. Yes, it's terrible... but getting over it is the only logical thing to do.

No one can predict such things, and no bullshit institutionalized care is going to help cure a kid who is truly suicidal. Hell man, he's gonna go, he's gonna take some fuckers with him. He's pretty damn determined.

    Let it be.

What made him determined to begin with? Thats the question :)

I heard alot about columbine, so did you, why have we yet to suffer the same fate?

We understood that as wrong, maybe he understood it as a solution to his problems... something that likely could have been avoided.

People are going to hear about things like this, its inevitable... news spreads whether its on the news or not... the news spreads because its something so out of the norm, its something so terrible... and people need to hear about terrible things so they are avoided.

If you assume people to be naturally bad/weak minded you must assume such news will only give them "ideas"... if you assume people to be naturally good/strong minded you must assume it will remind them what NOT to do... and this is where we differ :)

Do you realize what a small amount of the population goes on these rampages?

There is no way of targeting each and one of these people and helping them. This is no utopia. School shootings are just the cool thing to do now, they are not the issue... crime in itself is the issue, wanna go and deal with that?

You don't seem to understand people. A lot of them have been broken by life.

I'm sure if the guy had a knife he would have probably killed even more people, probably could have knifed at least 30 before someone took him down :D

Yeah, only the police and military should have them because they are loving gods we can trust.
