I'm posting this story because I was actually there. On Wednesday night at approximately 10:30 pm, I was biking along the banks of the Charles River in Cambridge when I noticed the lights from over a dozen emergency vehicles. I stopped and asked a group of Harvard students what was going on and they told me a woman jumped off the bridge and the rescue crews are trying to locate her body. After about 20 minutes they pulled her body onto the boat and placed her in a body bag. 32-year-old woman found dead after diving into Charles River at John W. On Wednesday night at approximately 8:30 p.m., state police, Cambridge police and the Boston fire and police departments responded to a report of a woman diving into the Charles River and not re-surfacing. After nearly three hours of searching for the woman, police said the Cambridge Fire Department’s Marine Unit located and recovered her body at 11:12 p.m. During a preliminary investigation, witnesses told police they saw the woman lying on a ledge of the John W. Weeks Bridge in Cambridge. Witnesses said they saw the woman proceed to dive into the water. After her body was recovered from the river, she was transported to the medical examiner’s office facility for postmortem examination.
