Pets actually can add several years to a person's life. Science tells us so. Big time. And I am not one to argue with science. :)

Or is it psychology? Both fields are often very different -yet the same. :D

Awww, thank you. I think of your posts as some of the best on the forums. :)

    1. Dragged a bunch of empty bottles back to Safeway.

    2. Reading a book about how depression can actually be a positive thing. This is news to me. I hate it. I think the author might be a tad delusional.

    3. Thinking about going for a long walk: The rainy season is fast approaching. And I'm not fond of walking in the rain, etc.

    1. cleaned up around the wood shed so I can start splitting and laying in firewood.

    2. Me and my youngest built a storage deck at the edge of my back yard project then filled it up with lumber and timbers. Wore the poor little pup out, can't keep up with an old man.

    3. Sorted and stacked rocks for my wall project, 20 pounders all the way up to 300-400 pounders. Dear God, I do love a tractor with a front end lift...Tonka Toys for old men....and the rocks are my Lego's

Thought about how nice it is to have an online community even if we never meet in person... fun to hear about the things in each of your lives.

    Yeah, Me too.

I got into Missouri last night after my long trip (Miami-DC-Chicago-St. Louis) and slept for 8 hours (usually do 6).

    So today I:

    1. Talked with my sister before she went to work, with the Home-Health Aide before she got mom up, and with mom on and off today.

    2. Downloaded fotos from camera, organized and edited them on my brother-in-laws computer (can live with Widows 7).

    3. Went online checked e-mail and forum posts and still catching up when I hit this thread. Made a post about my stay in DC.

    1. Worked on some fotos for 3 hours, posting and editing on Photobucket. (time just goes when I have a project on the computer)

    2. Went to the hospital and sat with my 81-year-old mother who got a hip pinning yesterday. Helped feed her and give assurance in her confusion.

    3. Wrote more in a journal, my feelings about ageing and seeing my once vital mother so confused and helpless. :(

Hey Shale, Boy, watching the ageing process, the gradule decline of the beautiful, vital soul that my mom was has blessed me with the humility of realizing our earthly limits. Mom was such a pleasant joyful soul that people were just attracted to her as if she were an oasis in the desert of life. At some level I never thought she would die. Always laughing, ready for fun and adventure, gentle and loving of her crazy only child. The cruelty of pain and declining abilities brought me closer to her as she neared her final time. She remains with me daily in her laughter and love of all my wild kids. She treated each of those sons with unconditional love and thanked me for finding them, bringing them into our family. She made those lost boys feel valued and loved. And they loved her without bounds.

Don't know why your post triggered this flood of thoughts ...save for maybe her exit eight years ago this month. Enjoy your time with your mom, Share your laughs and memories, love her presence even if she is preparing to leave.

The quality of soul that come through your posts and thoughts here suggest that you are blessed with a sweet mother who put lots of good things into her son. Give her a kiss on the cheek and tell her some one far away smiles when they read her sons gifts to us in this place. Yeah, I'm in a wistful mood, sweet, sad and grateful for all of life.

Sorry to hear about this, Shale. My mother passed away when I was 28 (she was only 51), but her death was a sudden one. So it still seems unreal to me. I wish I'd at least been able to say goodbye. However, I am grateful she did not suffer from a long and painful illness. I think that would be very difficult to see. Your mother is lucky to have a son like you. *Hugs*

    1. Picked up hold items at the library. One book (about overcoming depression and anxiety) is proving to be an excellent read. The author even published his suicide note (he was rescued when a friend dropped by). The author lives in my city, and says he is completely recovered. Now he's writing books about how to survive major mental illness.

    2. Paid all my bills.

    3. Had a very nice long distance chat (2 hours!) with someone very dear to me. :)
